I have been in Cedar Key for the weekend with friends and took this shot of a Brown Pelican in the harbor.
I have just started going through all the photographs taken and noticed this poor Pelican has a fishing line wrapped around its body.
I have never fished at all, but to see this this sickens me.
Thanks a lot to the careless fisherman, I hope you are happy who ever you are and that you never catch anything more than a cold!

Many thanks to everyone here for all of your replies ! The information was very useful, although varied in suggestions. But nonetheless, it is helpful in my thinking of what to do.
It seems the choices now in digital are far more complicated than when everything was film. I am struggling through it and hope to make a decision in a couple of weeks.
Many thanks again for the really useful information !

Hello markjay, welcome to the forum.
Have you considered renting the cameras & lenses you are thinking about, this may help in your decision making.

Once you have decided I hope enjoy your new hobby.

At the end of the rainy season, you notice the concrete has accumulated some color. A day with the pressure washer is needed and takes about 5 hours of work.

Hello Sarge, Spray it with a diluted mix of liquid Chlorine (the same you use in your pool) 50/50 if it is really bad. I use this all the time for cleaning decks & driveways. Don't get on you cloths or fabric though.

I have a Mac and use Chrome all the time with no problems.
I rarely use Safari.

I have used the UHH Search to check out past posts on Chrome/Macs, so I have seen some varying opinions about Chrome and Macs. I have a MacBook Pro, and I was wondering if there are any more recent pro or con opinions regarding Chrome's use on this laptop, before I consider downloading it and using it in tandem with Safari.

Happy Birthday Bob.
Are you sure the date is correct on your birth certificate?
You certainly don't look 89.

I have read many time on here about people being asked or volunteered to take photographs at a wedding and always thought never, never for me.

And now

I have been volunteered to take informal / behind the scenes photographs at a friends daughter's wedding.
SWMBO has kindly volunteered me plus they are special friends, so what can I do? Apart from run a mile!
There will be a professional photographer for the formal photographs, with me clicking away in the back ground.
I plan to introduce myself to the photographer and explain what I have been asked to do and hope he/she does not mind.

I have a Canon 7D mark II with a variety of lenses
EFS 18-55mm f3.5-5.6
EF 50mm f1.8
EF 70-300mm f4-5.6
28-200mm f3.8-5.6
10-24mm f3.5-4.5
70-200mm f2.8

I have never done this type of photography before. I am more a wildlife and landscape type of guy, so would appreciate any advice from fellow "Hoggers".

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the reply.
I agree with you comments, if I don't go I may be missing out, so whats to loose by going.

Mac's comments above are accurate and sound. The only way to tell if a club suits your needs and personality is to attend a few meetings as a visitor and see what you think.

In general, photo clubs can be a great experience. They often offer guest speakers and presentations, field trips, critique sessions, casual in house competitions, or access to regional competitions (participation is voluntary, of course), and maybe most importantly camaraderie with other photographers.

Look at it this way. If you go a few times and don't like it, fine. You don't join. On the other hand, not going and checking it out may mean missing out on an experience that you truly enjoy and benefit from being a part of. Hopefully the club will be all you are hoping it will be, and more.

Thanks for the reply Hiker,

I think I will contact them to see if it is ok to go to their next meeting and take it from there.

I think that anytime you are part of a group that's shares the same interest it is good and it offers a chance to learn new things. My only concern would be how active they are and weather they get out to shoot different types of photos at diff. places or do they just meet a couple times a month and share infor.Do they organize trips;do they hold contests;do they get speakers to talk about diff.subjects and is there a fee for membership?

Thank you for the quick reply Mac,
Looking at their website on Meetup.com it looks like they do not hold what I would call regular set meetings,The club description says,
'The club holds regular photo shoots and outings, workshops, and critiques in a friendly, supportive environment."
I think I will go along and check it out.

I can't hep you with the specific club you asked about, but each club has it's own personality. Some clubs are "My gear is better than your gear" type clubs, or "I have more gear than you do" clubs. Some clubs are very competitive, others are not. The club I belong to here on the Gulf Coast "The West Pasco Shutterbugs" if very friendly and laid back and the members are supportive and helpful. Unfortunately there is no way to tell in advance. The best thing would be to attend a few meeting to get a feel for it first then, if you are comfortable, join.

I am thinking about joining a local photography club, "The Lakeland Shooters".
Hopefully to help me learn more and to get me out meeting other photographers in the area.

1) Are there any other fellow Hogger's members of this club?
2) Would it be beneficial joining a photography club?

I have the Canon 7D mark ii, when I use the Sigma 100-400 I frequently get "Error 01 lost communication with lens".
Sometimes all I have to do is turn the camera off & back on, other times I need to remove the lens and reattach it.
I don't have a problem with other lenses, or with the same lens on my old camera.
Any help & advice would be appreciated.

Hi, new Lightroom user here & looking for some help.

I have a file structure setup on my Mac but after importing it did not work. Structure is as follows: 2016 sub under called 02 with another sub under for skyline. After the import 2 new directories were placed in the skyline folder and they were 2016 and then 02 which is where the files are now. Why did this happen & how can I move the files to be in the skyline folder only.

Thanks

Hi pgerardi,
I am learning Lightroom and use Adobe tv for tuition.
