Canon 7D ii Error 01

I have the Canon 7D mark ii, when I use the Sigma 100-400 I frequently get "Error 01 lost communication with lens".
Sometimes all I have to do is turn the camera off & back on, other times I need to remove the lens and reattach it.
I don't have a problem with other lenses, or with the same lens on my old camera.
Any help & advice would be appreciated.

Clean the contacts on the lens and see if that corrects the problem.

The zoom lens' flexible cable may need to be replaced. My Canon 17-55 started getting an error last year - on the short end it was fine but when I zoomed in I got an error. Sent it to Canon for repair so all is good once again. Seems like the flexible cable (the one that stretches between wide and tele) should have a better design?

It is defiantly a lens problem. I'd send it to Sigma for repair, calibration.
