Tried search to find this but no luck. Looking for the post that showed an advertisement for Emirates airlines that showed a flight attendant atop the highest building in the world. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, I hail from the Puget Sound area. My photography started when I was in JRHS with my father's Brownie that he had in Korea and my mother's Kodak 126 folder. I graduated to polaroid (Ansel Adams did better than me) and eventually to 35mm. I have used Canon, Olympus, and Kodak in 35mm. I graduated to Kodak digital in 1997 for an adoption trip to China. Then in 2006 I moved into Canon digital and now have the 80D. I like wildlife, macro, flowers, and candid photography. For lenses I have the 18-135 nano, 100 L macro, 150-600 tele, and extension tubes with a 50mm reversed. I also use my iPhone with and without clip on macro lens. I push limits with shooting into the extremely high ISO range due to lack of light. I also do some photo stacking and experiment with some software. However, my personal preference is to try to get the composition and exposure right in the camera; a carryover from film days.

I have searched the archives here and did an internet search, but surprisingly I could not find a consistent chart or calculator for memory card image capacity. I also tried the San Disk website. The camera is a Nikon D 850 (45.7 MP), I shoot Raw 14 bit uncompressed. I did find a detailed chart that only went to 22 MP but had "uncompressed RAW" denoted as "24 bits per pixel" and a image size for this indicated as 66 MB. I do not know if the chart's "bits per pixel" can be proportionately reduced to 14 bit or if this is even a correct equivalency. Presuming "bits per pixel" is equivalent to "bit depth," then the chart values need to be multiplied by .58 (14/24) for a file size of 38 MB and then times 2.1 to get from the chart figure for a 22 MP camera to my 45.7 MP Nikon, or a file (image) size for my camera of 74 MB. A 64 GB card would then, based upon the above, hold 479 14 bit uncompressed 45.7 MB images. I realize, if calculated correctly, this is only an approximation, but I was just looking for some approximation. Any thoughts, comments, corrections or perhaps better yet a link to a chart that allows for input of values upon which calculations can be made? Thanks.

Thanks to all for your responses, especially to CHG_Canon. Who would have thought the manual would contain useful information 😁. It looks as if my calculations were pretty accurate but the manual would have been much quicker. Thanks again.

I recently bought a 12TB hard drive on line from B&H photo video and as I always do I printed off an invoice before closing the window. A few days later a new and additional charge was posted to my account from B&H. When I investigated B&H had re-invoiced and charged me, again, $150 over what I had originally paid for my hard drive affectively charging me more than double my original purchase. When I went onto their website to look at my orders they had created a whole new order and invoice and my order and invoice wasn't there. Now they claim I placed another order - which I didn't. I take a lot of photos but 24TB worth - really.

They refuse to rectify this situation. I've filed a BBB complaint and am working with my Visa card services to try and get my money back. I have done plenty of business with them over the years but this is the last time I buy anything from them. The time and stress this has cause me is not work it. I will keep my business with Adorama and my local camera outfitters from now on.

This does not at all sound like the B&H I have done business with over the years. Sorry, but this just does not sound right.

Try Anthony Morganti’s site. Believe he has a discount code.

Short answer, in my opinion, yes Sharpen AI is worth it but look for discount codes.

Any experience in the B&H Photo's PayBoo card? Is it a good idea to have/use one? What is the catch?

I've had one since they started the program. No catch, works great for me. Just be sure you pay the balance in full each month as the interest rate is super high, as I recall, about 29.99%.

Acratech makes a great leveling head and it will fit on your 290 pro tripod.

I second the recommendation of the Acratech leveling head. Very well made and very competitively priced.

Had second Moderna shot on Tuesday. No symptoms after the first (except sore shoulder) About 12 hours after the second I was cold put on another blanket and went back to sleep. Awake an hour later with uncontrollable chills and was actually physically shaking. This lasted about an hour. The next morning had a lot of muscle soreness (probably from the shaking) and general fatigue. All back to normal today. Definitely beats covid.

I took this photo of my neighbors dog and she wants to print it in an 8x10 but it's out of focus. I have played in PS using the Sharpen/Motion Blur tools but I just can't seem to get it to look right.

Does anyone have any tricks that I could try? I am not very good at post processing in PS but want to learn.

Thanks
Cindy

I am not very good at post work in PS either but I am still trying. To sharpen, I have only used the most recent version of Topaz Sharpen AI and I found it did a remarkable job at saving a very large (Nikon d850) HDR and focus stacked file. In my opinion this software is worth every penny. I started with it on automatic and made only a slider adjustment or two and let it do it’s magic. It took about 2 minutes to render the image on a very fast (i9 10900x chip with 128gb of ram and an 8gb graphics card) so be prepared to wait a bit, but the results saved my image and it should render your image quite easily. I highly recommend this piece of software.

I'm looking around for a short tripod for a DSLR. When I say tripod I mean more like a foot or cradle (off-the-shelf or improvised) to control the orientation of the camera when shooting from ground level.

My pocket tripod is too weak for the weight of the camera and off-center balance of the lens and is actually set too high anyway.

TIA

Pro media gear has a very versatile, small, low level tripod. It supports my D 850 and a sigma art 14 to 24 as long as you center the mass a bit. Very well constructed.

Just back from getting my first round of the Pfizer vaccine. It was done by appointment at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, a Nascar track for those who don't know. There was a documentation and questionnaire point right outside the track that was a slight bottleneck then you entered the track through the pit area. That documentation area meant I had the whole track to myself once I entered with not a car in sight behind or in front... It took all the willpower I have not to floor it through the turns! After driving the whole track I was directed back off through a gate that led to the garages where the shots were given without me leaving the car. I had about a 10 minute wait there for my turn and then out to a parking lot where they made you wait for another 15 minutes to make sure you had no immediate reaction. It was easy and fun! It's been about an hour now since I got stuck and so far no reaction at all, not even a sore arm.

Wide open track, you have more will power than I do. I would have punched it. Hope all goes well.
