I got my appointment for the first shot today. I am scheduled for Valentines Day. Now I feel like a short timer in a combat zone and I don't like the feeling.
I'm 92; gettong shot Thursday AM.

The “23 and a wake-up” feeling?
As explained to me, it doesn't mean that you still can't contract Covid. However, having be vaccinated, your symptoms would not be severe.
got mine about 2 weeks ago. so far, no side effects.

Valentines Day huh? Just watch out for a nekkid baby with a bow and arrow trying to give ya your shot. Maybe they'll give ya a special treat when they're finished. (Then again they'll probably give away candy the next day because it's 50% off) I get mine the tomorrow (22nd). You had to call to get an appointment and after 1080 (yes, that's the real number) attempts I got through. I'll be working with a local pharmacy doing some of the intake paperwork for folks so I'm hoping I'll be able to get my 2nd before they get the vaccine at the pharmacy. (I thought about finding out if I could "refresh" my skills form my EMS days so I could stick folks but I'm sure that would involve some long drawn out class.. again)
I'm just wondering which one I'll be getting. A know a number of folks that have gotten the Pfizer, They say the second shot is on the rough side (just like the second shingles shot) and I haven't spoken to anyone that has has the 2nd Moderma but hey, at least I'm getting it.
I'm in Lapeer Michigan and they just keep trying on line and when they have vaccine they we allow you to make an appointment and when that batch is filled you must just keep trying. That is the government doing it.

Just got my first Pfizer dose yesterday and my wife got her Moderna first dose Monday. So far, no ill effects for either of us. Here in NC, Health and Human Services has been VERY slow and disorganized getting vaccines out to the public, and their sign up website, running weeks behind the hospitals, predictably crashed as soon as it opened. BUT the Univ of NC hospitals and Duke Hospitals are doing a great job. The UNC vaccination site I visited yesterday was a model of efficiency - I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better organized and more well run program of any kind. They were handling hundreds of people per hour, but with smiles and individual attention. If the national and all state governments were running this efficiently, we’d have administered all the available doses weeks ago.

TriX, I'll let ya know how the Durham County Health Department went tomorrow.
Duke is booked waay out but I understand the process went well at Southern. I was just trying to get mine onboard sooner seeing I was going to be dealing with the public trying to get their shots. From my nurse friend that got the 2nd Pfizer you may want to think about Tylenol and hydrate. (She said she felt like duck-pucky for about a day and a half)
I read a FB post from a guy who described his experience with the a VA health facility. Very positive.
I can understand the desire for taking the vaccine. It is like an insurance policy during this pandemic.
Last July I had a non-elective total replacement surgery of my left knee. This March I have a return trip pending for my right knee. My doctors have said ..."don't get the vaccine" and follow these precautions, "eat a healthy mix of foods and add a daily dose of vitamin C, then start the pre-surgery PT routine, simular to what was done for the left knee". Note: the Covid-19 concerns delayed my 1st surgery 3 times. I trust my doctors and will follow their guidance.
The 4 people I know that have contracted the Covid-19 are all on a Vitamin C regiment as a part of recovery. Why isn't this in the news? Why are so many people refusing to take the simple steps like masks and self care?
Everyone please stay healthy and be safe out there. David C.

I got mine at the VA Hospital here in NYC one week ago. They were very efficient. I was Vaxxed within 15 minutes of my arrival. then sat in a conference room for 20 minutes to see if I had any adverse reactions. I didn't. I'll get the second shot two weeks from today.
