Over a period of time I have seen at least several requests from older or infirmed members of UHH about how to help keep their heavy cameras steady when they are physically unable to do so. I saw this and thought some members might find it useful. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/866723-REG/Dot_Line_DL_V9_DLC_V9_HDSLR_Camera.html

try a monopod and a "parade flag carrier" like color guards wear to hold the flagpole at their waist.

Forty years and 50 pounds ago, I didn't mind having my picture taken; I even have 2 or 3 selfies from that time, taken with using a tripod and timer, and always with a reason to take them. But today, I do everything I can to avoid having my picture taken.

All nice, but I prefer #8.

I will be shooting a catalog 5 times a year for a company. While shooting the catalog it is very important to have the same angle and height for each shot. Can anyone recommend a tripod that may have measurements on it to help with the process, but also does not cost $1000?

Why not just take a tape measure and record the height of the tripod the first time you set it up. Measure distance from your camera to the subject.
Record everything.

To me, the sky seems a little overdone, but I definitely like the color of the canyon in #1 and #3. #2 reminds me of what the canyon actually looks like just a few minutes before sunrise, with a distinct bluish tint. For an early morning photo I prefer #2, but that's simply my opinion.

A few weeks ago, a Hogger posted a source (Amazon I think) for small, translucent plastic, individual battery cases for DSLR camera batteries. I thought I bookmarked the post, but apparently didn't. Does anyone remember that post and the source for the containers, or can retrieve that post? I've tried a search on Amazon but results don't match what was posted here (I'm not too good at search strings that get the best results).

I've seen boxes of straight pins at the Hobby Lobby in plastic containers that look close to the size one would need for a battery but I haven't tried that avenue yet.

What you are looking for may be JJC camera battery case holder box; pack of 4 is about $15 at Amazon. I carry a couple spare batteries in my pocket in Tenba pouches for individual batteries, but I don't remember where I bought them, maybe Amazon or B&H.

I'd like recommendations for a reliable light-weight spring loaded 2" carabiner-type belt loop clip for small camera accessories. American-made preferred. Many I've seen on Amazon have too many poor recommendations because the spring mechanisms break easily.

look for them at Home Depot or Menards. Good for carrying things but not for climbing.

Nice pictures of some beautiful cars; would like to see some more of the black Mustang in #2. But that Edsel is just plain ugly from that angle.

Lean against a tree quickly.
Otherwise you have ruled all else out.

right click and Google search says Western Bluebird. Google the photo below it, and that one is identified as Eastern Bluebird. Looks like the only real difference is the western Bluebird has a blue throat while the eastern one is more orange.

A month or two ago we received a case of Professional TP.
Does anyone have a clue what Professional TP really means?
The baby racoon happened to be climbing in a tree in the back yard.

Have fun in the New Year

what's next, "Tactical" TP, probably from Bell & Howell?

My sons bought me a helicoptor tour of the North Shore (Minnesota) for Christmas. Should be fantastic. My question is: what focal length lens would you recommend? I have a 70-200 mm (105-300 on my APS-C camera). That is my longest lens. Do you recommend that? Anything shorter? Thanks for your advice.
Don

my only helicopter tour was about 20 years ago over the Grand Canyon. Other than the fantastic scenery, the main thing I remember about it is the tight space. If it were me, I'd carry something like a 24-105 zoom, especially if you're using a crop frame camera. And if you ever get the opportunity to take a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon, by all means do it, especially if the ride is over the main part of the canyon, not the western part where most helicopter trips from Las Vegas go to.
