How to know which is best?

I struggle with color and often composition. However, this one is about color and knowing which is best. Also, more or less sky?

The first is one photo the next 2 are the same photo different processing. Honestly I don't remember what my eye saw as the most real color. The sky is enhanced, but did look like that as I remember. Not the pretty clouds I wanted, but I remember thinking well that sky is pretty.

I do not sell photos or put them in galleries, but would like advice on how to decide which is best, or none or keep working! I like each, for example the middle one I like the coloring better than the last, but the last seems sharper and more detail.

Thanks for your thoughts!
Beth

All are good, but #1 is my pick, Beth.

They are all fantastic captures. If it's clouds you wished were there, that's an ez fix, you can add the exact kind of cloud you're looking for to make the end result you were hoping for.

I like #3 best because I feel there is more detail visible in the shaded areas. Also, on my system, #1 seems to have a slight yellow/green cast. Just my opinion that along with $5 will almost pay for a visit to Starbucks.

Not having been there it's hard for me to say. I also have trouble deciding what to keep or not. But... I am also a minimalist and tend not to use PP unless I really like the picture itself for other reasons and some basics make it look more natural. I like and enjoy the pictures on UHH that I imagine have had PP but as close to 'looking' natural is what I really like.

All are very nice.
I prefer #3 because like you, I think it seems a little more detailed and sharp

Beth, I think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. You are not a pro and don't shoot for other people--you shoot and process for yourself, if you like it that's all that matters. Photographic rules are NOT rules but guidelines to be broken or ignored as you see fit. If you are not happy with a shot you have taken either change it in PP or delete it. If you ask other people to decide what picture is best you end up with their shot not your own. Just relax and have fun, please

I agree with you and I do take photos for myself. With that said, I like knowing what makes a photo enjoyable for others. As you know I post many photos here and on a couple other places. I want my work to make myself happy and one of my greatest joys is when I have someone say it made their day or made them smile or feel like they were there. Who knows maybe someday I will try and sell a photo, it never hurts to know what moves other people besides myself.
I do appreciate your thoughts!

Thanks for your thoughts. Would you suggest these have a little less PP? I try to not over bake, but it does happen sometimes!

Thanks Bill, the first could have a bit of yellow. That is what I need help with as I’m mot color blind, but often I hear someone say there is a green or red cast and I just don’t see it. I am tone deaf!!

#3 for me. I can see more detail in that one and doesn't have that "over-processed" look.
