Think I may prefer monochrome

I looked at it in camera raw and notice that you were clipping your blacks, so i lightened the shadows and then went into levels in photoshop and this is what i came up with.

I went over there to order a color munki and got the post that they were not accepting online orders til saturday, but religion never entered my mind. i was just figuring it was some kind of maintenance for the website. Religious or not everyone needs some time off. Now that i know it is possibly a religious day for them i will be purchasing more from them.

1. I keep reformatting when I don't want to. I am asked 'Do you want to reformat?' I OK on NO and then it proceeds to reformat anyway, and I lose all of my photos. What am I doing wrong?

2. Can I bracket in RAW? If so, then how? I keep trying with no result, in AUTO or P settings.

Obviously these questions probably can only be answered by someone using the D5100. Thanks.

1) You are hitting "O.K." first. Don't. Just hit "No".

2) If you set the mode to "Auto" it will only shoot Jpg files. If you set the mode to "P" you need to set the file type to RAW+Jpg to shoot both at the same time.

3) You can't use AEB in "Auto" or "P" mode. Set the mode to A or Sv to use auto bracketing properly.

I think you are incorrect on the 2nd answer. I have a 5100 and i can put it in auto mode and shoot raw.

I hope this isn't bad form to just be blunt and simply ask "how'd he do this" This is a photo by Mark seliger who is my hero and a shooter I would most like to emulate. Yes I know he's probably using a $50,000 med format camera. Can any of ya'll tell if that key light is a shoot thru umbrella, beauty dish w/ sock I'm stumped thank you in advance

I thiink he is using a soft box to emulate outside light.

I'm encluding a photo of 2 horses (Amish). I want everyone to see what they can do with this photo to improve it. let me what program you use and how you did it. thank you.

this is my rendition i removed some of the sky because in my opinion it did not add to the image. made a few adjustments in camera raw, did a levels adjustment and then added the borders

I took this photo on Christmas Eve of my sister and brother-in-law. They hosted a lovely dinner for our family and this is the only photo I took of them -- ugh! Is there anyone who can help me get rid of the flash reflection in the window? I would so appreciate it so I can share with everyone. Thank you!

i thought i would give it a try.

Checked the Amazon site. The product I am talking about is the $ 449 item. Joe Brady has done some webinars on the Colormunki product as well as Passport. You could probably find them on the XRite web site. These might help you with your decision.

I know XRite has some other products that do not do as much as the product I own but do not know anyone who uses them.

Joe brady is great at explaining this stuff x-rite is full of seminars for all types of photography problems.

Hi all. Just came back from a wonderful family vacation with TERRIBLE photos! The reality is a P&S takes up a lot less space than a SLR! Anyway, my favorite photo is the worst one. Very dark and noisy. My photoshop skills are decent, but I couldn't get far with this one. Even making it B&W just accented the noise. I use PS Elements 8, made my adjustments in camera raw, and applied a noise reduction filter. Here is the before & after. Any suggestions??

i ran it through camera raw and used luminance and then color corrected with levels. I may have helped with the noise some.

I bought a Nikon D600 from ?+? for $2599.00 amonth ago and now I see this offer.

don't look at the ads. you will always be saying i got screwed. You bought it, for what you thought was a good price and you like the camera. How will you feel in a year or so when it sells for 500-600

Just enjoy it.
