I just got back from Mexico. I took a new Gnarbox for backup. It’s a self contained HD. It has its own WiFi connection which connects to an app on your phone or iPad. It worked fine. They have excellent support. It allows you to review and rank your images on your phone or tablet. It also allows you to copy a set of images to other locations, like Dropbox. I think it is Very slick. It nicely met my needs.
We just got back from Oaxaca. Great choice. I don’t think you can go wrong. Just go and enjoy. Build some flexibility into your schedule and adjust on the run.
I use both AA and AAA eneloops batteries with consistent success I believe they are made by Panasonic. I use a Panasonic outlet charger which works for both sizes. I’ve also successfully charged them using a solar panel while traveling and backpacking.
I have an EOS R, shoot raw and import and process directly from the card using a dedicated card reader. I have not encountered any problems. I do believe that I’ve checked “ do import duplicates”. Checking preferences makes sense. This should be a easy fix. Adobe support is available and might be an easy way to fix your issue.
There isn’t a “wrong” choice. I just faced the same dilemma. I elected to go with the EOS R for many of the reasons mentioned in this string. I feel the decision was right for me. I’m enjoying me new camera. I’ve disposed of all my other bodies. I’ve consolidated my lens. I’ve purchased one of the new RF lenses. I’m happy.
