Has anyone else ever have a canon LP6N battery come apart? It looks like the case came apart at the seam around the battery which is only about 4 months old. I tried to snap it together with no luck, it just comes apart as soon as I release pressure. Should I try to glue it or contact Canon?

Thanks
Tom

If it’s on the non-contact end, I’d be tempted to just glue it on (5-minute epoxy), but if it’s under warranty not too much trouble to send it back and can do without it for awhile, then you could always send it back to Canon.

I'd send it to Canon.

If it's split open, I WOULD NOT put it back in my camera. Have you ever seen the damage done by a split case battery?

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR. I also sound like it is a fake Canon product since I have never heard of this happening.

No hesitation on my end, I’d take it back to my supplier and let them deal with canon

This was a Canon battery bought at local camera shop. I think I will call canon tomorrow and see what they say. I don't feel comfortable ever putting it in my 5D M4 again.

I’ve only had one battery do what you describe, it was a PROMASTER and even tho it was replaced, for that and other quality reasons, I now avoid the brand.

You won't know for sure if it is a genuine Canon battery until Canon confirms it. Hopefully it is and Canon will replace it.

Are you sure it's not an LP-E6N? I have never heard of a legitimate new one falling apart like that. How much did you pay for it? Depending on where you purchased it, it could be a counterfeit.

Why not first take it back to the camera shop?

It is the LP-E6N, I bought it at the local camera shop and paid @$68 for it. It came in all Canon packaging.
If this does turn out to be a non Canon battery by some chance, how can you tell at time of purchase??

Have you asked at the camera shop?

They said it is over 30 days old and there is no way to prove that it is the battery i purchased there. I can see their point who records the serial number on the battery at time of sale. It's not like a camera or a lens. I can't fault them for being cautious, the 30 policy is right on the receipt not like they pulled it afterwords or anything. I see what Canon says.
