What part of Oaxaca? Ciudad Oaxaca or another part of the state?
Very interesting. I have collected at least 100's of Images including Daguerreotypes, Ambrotypes, Tintypes, Cyanotypes, glass plates, Stereo cards, Cabinet cards, Early glass plate Xrays and probably some I forgot I have. When I got into Photography with 35 mm film I wanted examples of all types of photography so started my collection. I really enjoy the old photos and there processes.

It is a large city nestled in the mountains. Last I was there in 2013. It is a very busy city. If you speak good Spanish and know how to blend in, just be careful and you should be okay. Do not be an obvious tourist. There should be plenty of celebrations in the city. The most authentic dia de los muertos celebrations would be found in the outlying small villages but people there tend to be pretty superstitious. Be sure to check out the cemeteries. The decorations are astounding. The architecture in the city is magnificent . Mitla is not too far away. I'll see if I can dig out a couple of pics and reply with them if that is okay.

We just got back from Oaxaca. Great choice. I don’t think you can go wrong. Just go and enjoy. Build some flexibility into your schedule and adjust on the run.
It will be fine.

This is a great time to go as many parades take place and there are celebrations at the cemeteries. The people are very kind and enjoy sharing their culture.
