Thinking about switching from windows with a 21 inch mediocre display to a 13 inch macbook air. Any thoughts on the size of the display and the ability to edit. I'd prefer the 16 inch of course but it's cost prohibitive. Thanks.

Hi there. It is probably that the MacBook Air will be underpowered. You need at least 16GB RAM. I don't know if you know OWC but here's a link anyway. https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/Apple_Systems/Used/Macs_and_Tablets
Others on this site have recommended them. If you go for a laptop maybe buy a screen as well. Hope this helps you.

Got it yesterday. Overall I'm very impressed -- seems like a terrific camera. Bleep bleep cheapskates Fuji didn't include an external battery charger. Have to charge the battery in the camera. So I'll pick one up -- nuisance.

Took it out for a walk through the neighborhood this afternoon. A lot of folks are griping about the fully articulated screen but my old knees love it. Build quality seems a cut above my XT-2.

Here's first two photos (still running tests):

Hi I'd chase your retailer/Fuji up. I can't believe they don't supply a charger. Damn stupid. Especially as the batteries are different.

8 GB is not sufficient.

I reviewed the specs, the minimum is 16GB; in addition my IT folks checked the Task Manager and showed me that the program was running at nearly 100% and indicated that it would never operate properly.

I bought the upgrade in Feb.I asked for and received a refund (available until 5/26.).

I like Exposure X 5 and use it now. However, I am going to try a one year subscription to Capture One for $99 because they have a special edition for Fuji users.

Capture One has free program that is not limited to a free trial if that interests you.

Hi,

I have the same problem with ON1 2020. I rarely use now as I can't upgrade my MacMini (late 2012) above the 16GB RAM I already have.

I am using C1 and Exposure X5 which I really like. No problem with lockups. C1 handles Fuji RAW files very well. I highly recommend it. These two software programmes really complement each other.

I use X5 on an almost daily basis. It's fast and really good. DP Review just did a review of it. I've been using their software for 3 years or more. I highly recommend it. I'm running it on a MacMini late 2012 running Catalina with 16GB Ram ITB SSD.

XT2 without a doubt. 2 card slots. Weather and dust resistant. Good form factor. XT30 too small. The choice is very simple. Do you want a Prosumer tough, weather-resistant camera or a consumer camera?

Hi there,

I have 4 Fuji lenses. 14mm, 16-50XC, 10-24 and the 18-135. I have not tried the 16-80.

The 18-135 has received many critical reviews. It is my most used lens by far, followed by my 10-24. The 14mm which receives rave reviews is my least used lens. I find it produces very pleasing and sharp images. I use it with my XH1 & XT2.

I was very tempted by the 16-80 when it was released to have as well as the 18-135 but could not justify the expense. It appears from real-world reviews to be a very good lens.

I would recommend the 18-135 without any reservation at all. It's a terrific, weather-sealed lens.If you have any other questions just let me know.

Hi, I have Fuji Xt1, XT2 & XH1. All very good cameras. Menus no more complicated than Nikon. Far less than Sony I'm told. The XT4 will likely be an excellent camera. If you want a great camera you could get the XT3 which is on offer for about $1200/$1400 with a lens I think. I have to 10-24 & 18-135 I may get the 50-230 Plastic XC lens which would complete my trio of Zooms. I also have a load of vintage MF glass that I use via adapters - from $20 to $150 - Industar, Helios, Nikon & Konica. I also have a 28mm KamLan lens from China. MF but a fantastic lens IMO.
As for the other cameras, I'm sure they're OK.
However, I would not hesitate to recommend Fuji. Well made lovely cameras. My fave being the XH1.
Good luck in your search. Enjoy what ever you choose.

Get yourself a mint, used or refurbished D7200. Two card slots. Great camera. Should be able to get a great price.

If money is no object get yourself a D500.

Enjoy.

Might get a Sony A 6400
I have used Nikon gear and have a 18-200 lens
Similar lens for Sony is 800.00
Nikon probably heavier

Adapters are available ( Neweer) for 150.00 or so

Comments on (in) advisability of adapter appreciated

Thanks

With Sony, you have a good choice of 3rd Party lenses from Sigma etc which will, most likely, be less expensive than Sony. You could adapt the Nikon. I would not unless it has an aperture ring and good manual focussing.

I shoot Fuji and use loads of vintage glass, all MF, on my Fujis. The results are great. I also use Fuji AF 10-24. 14, 18-135 & 16-50. The cost of 10 vintage lenses is about the equivalent of my 10-24 Fuji. The ability to use vintage glass on my Fuji was one of the main reasons I moved from Nikon (weight being another reason).

Personally I don't subscribe to Nikon with Nikon, Fuji with Fuji etc belief. I am using KamLan Chinese lenses, MF, of my Fuji and the results are fantastic. The price differential is huge.

In the end, you will do what you are comfortable with as I do. Enjoy the Sony great little camera.

Hi - Why don't you pick up a mint XT2 or XH1. I have both. I prefer the XH1. The XT2 is lighter. You could buy the lens for your Nikon then with an adapter put it on the Fuji. (I moved to Fuji from Nikon because of weight and the ability to use vintage m/f lenses on the Fujis) Good luck.

maybe I am missing something

I use C1 for Fuji. It is excellent software. One of the best, if not the best Fuji RAW processing software. I would respectfully suggest that you try it a little more. I have and use Exposure X5 with C1. Great film sims and other features it is also really excellent software IMO.

I also have and use from time to time ON1 2020 RAW and Iridient Developer.

I stopped using LR years ago when I could not load LR6, having bought it. LR Tech Support was terrible.

I have Exposure X5. I love it. Have used AlienSking for years and regret the passing of the name but I find it compliments my Capture 1 (for Fuji) perfectly. It's excellent IMHO.

Hi there, I have a D300. A light comes on when you get focus. I can't remember the colour. That's using Nikon non AF lenses.

Hi Rick. Get a Nikon 18-70 lens. I had one on my D300. Very sharp. Really good lens. No VR. I never liked the 18-55 but that's a personal thing. Here's an example:
