I use my camera in Program mode because it's important to me to have full control of my camera. Like the video author I have a Fuji camera which, in Program mode, I have more precise control than he does using his camera in Manual mode.

Sounds like the person who was driving his Tesla while it was in AutoDrive/Program mode while he was playing a game on his smart phone instead of paying attention to what the car was doing. Possibly the Tesla program may not have been accurate enough to miss a barrier, crash and kill the guy. Now using your camera in program mode may not kill you...… But...……….there are advantages to manual controls.

Bit of trivia, the near-sister boat USS Balao was the sub used in the 1959 movie Operation Petticoat, with Cary Grant. The owner of my beer distributor store in town (I buy mine in half kegs for my cellar bar) served on the Balao thruout the war. He loved watching that movie. He passed away a few years ago at 98. Heard lot's of stories as we sat around his store "sampling" his stock.

How many remember the Planters Peanut Man walking around the streets? We had a Planters Peanuts store in town where they had in-store roasters for the peanuts and the smell was so delicious. There was a person dressed up as Mr Peanut walking all around the main street of town handing out fresh roasted peanuts and you just HAD to stop by the store and get a full nickel bag (probably a $2.00 bag now). But my favorite was the fresh, hot, greasy, salty Cashews! Man I miss those days.

Another one, Pinnacle Dazzle. Still have one after many years, used it for duping Beta, VHS and 8mm tapes of my kids growing up. Put them on a DVD, don't waste a BluRay DVD. Or capture them in some digital mode like AVI and put them on a CD.

The only tiket you will get in Germany on the AutoBahn is for not moving right after passing (and for not following the reduced speed limit in some urban areas).

Absolutely! Loved driving the AutoBahn in my BMW 2002 while working in Germany in the mid 1970's/ early 80's. Also, the roads were so well maintained (had to be for those speeds)!

Left Lane Bandits should have their license suspended. Those who believe a yellow light means you still have 5 seconds left to get thru the red light should have their license revoked, that is, if they are still alive after the crash they've caused.

Of course there is, if you use a camera without a built-in meter. I still use my RB-67 and a hand held meter.

Those mirrors are the chains holding back our photography.

Mirrors are chains? Holding back photography? In what sense are they HOLDING BACK photography? What specifically can a mirrorless do that CANNOT be done in some manner with another camera? Say a DSLR, or a RF, or even a Point and Shoot?

While that is true, I still find it difficult to imagine someone with a DX camera going out to buy a FX lens. My bad.

I had only one DX lens for my D90, my first DSLR, which came with the camera body. From then on I only bought FX lenses. And I'm glad I did! After many years I upgraded to a D800, then a D850 and I had all the FX lenses I needed to get started, with no concern about what to do with any leftover DX lenses. I gave the D90 and the original DX lens that came with it (an 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G Zoom DX) to my daughter and son-in-law to use for pictures of our grandchildren. Am I worried about moving to a mirrorless Z? Nope, at my age my I expect my D800 and D850 to last me for as long as I need them. Plus I can use the lenses on my F4. I checked out the Z7 at the store and while the body weighed less, by the time I added the adapter and either of my two main FX zoom lens (28-70/2.8 and 70-200/2.8 FL) the weight difference felt negligible. And no, since I wouldn't be getting any 7 series lens, no Z series Nikon body for me either.

I was stationed in Fort Sill, OK in 1964-65. We had a light dusting of snow one day, just enough to make things white but the ground wasn't fully covered, maybe 1/4" to 1/2", vegetation still visible, roads were wet. As a precaution, all activity/training was cancelled for the day. Yes, that's right, the Army closed down for that day!

Just stay away from that cheap shit like the Woverine products, etc. they are nothing more than a bad joke!

I used a Wolverine to convert some of my 8mm/super 8mm from the 50's, 60's and 70's. While not 4k video quality, the results were quite good, video on the 60" TV looks as good (to me) as the movie projected on a screen. I'm sure pixel peepers would disagree. The wolverine cost about 25% of the cost to have one roll of 8mm converted professionally and I've converted over 30 rolls so far. I'm quite satisfied with the result and saved several thousands of dollars over professional conversion in the process.

I only have one zoom lens for my Nikon F4S, a Nikkor 28-70/2.8D. All my other lenses that I use with the F4S are prime, 20/2.8D, 35/2D, 50/1.4D and an 85/1.4D, my longest lens. All have aperture rings to allow me to shoot manual.

I also use these lenses with my D800 and D850, but for these cameras I also have a 105/2.8G Micro, a 16-35/4G, a 24-85/3.5-4.5G, a 70-200/2.8 FL ED VR and a 200-500/5.6E. These lenses do not have manual aperture and since I like to shoot the F4 in manual mode a lot, the loss of aperture control is a bummer. Having access to these lenses on the digital bodies has got me thinking about adding a longer lens for the F4. Since I don't use the F4 anywhere near as much as the other bodies, I don't want to invest in several longer prime lenses just for the F4. I would like instead to get a single zoom that starts somewhere around 70 or 80 and goes up to 200 or 300. I'd also like it to be relatively fast, the 70-200/2.8 FL has me really spoiled. If it only had manual aperture control!

What I'm asking for are recommendations on Nikkor zoom lenses that are somewhere in the range of my requirements. Please don't bother suggesting other brands, I know there are those who feel there are other brands that are as good as, or better than, Nikon/Nikkor, but in my case I prefer to stick with the Nikon brand. I know I can just browse thru the list of all the Nikon lenses to see what is/was available, but I'd like some real-world experience and recommendations to base my decision on.

The label LO1 causes you to stop and think..... Do I really understand what this is and do I want to use it? If they just labeled it 50, then uninformed uses would just use it thinking it was a true 50 and then be upset with Nikon when the image might not appear as expected.

Asked my wife, she says it's obvious.... when it comes time to change the baby, men are handicapped and leave it to the wife to do.

When stationed in Germany, one of our favorite pranks on "newbies" was, if they asked how to get to a certain place out of town, we'd tell them to go straight down the main road until they saw a sign that said Umleitung, and follow those signs to their destination. They weren't happy when they found that Umleitung means Detour.
