[quote=Windows is better sometimes. I'm still bipolar, using both systems.

The things that drive me crazy are mostly related to muscle memory. Windows and Mac both have a nice taskbar at the bottom (or wherever you want it to be) that shows a bunch of frequently used apps. If you open a couple apps you can click on the taskbar to switch between them. However, in Windows, you can click on the taskbar icon of the open app to minimize it. Not so on the Mac. It's nice to be able to switch between them just by repetitive clicks on one icon rather than moving back and forth. In windows if you switch from app A to app B, then minimize B, focus shifts to A. On the Mac, when you minimize B, you have to click on A to get focus on it. The window controls (close, minimize, fullscreen) are on the upper right in Windows and the upper left on the Mac. The Mac is picky about apps, much more so than the PC. I had a lot more trouble installing ImageMagick on the Mac than I did on the PC. Apple likes to keep control of details where the PC can be reconfigured more easily (although that might be due to my short Mac experience).

PS: the MacBook Pro is using Ventura 13.1[/quote]

DirtFarmer: I, too am using 13.1 on an M1 mini and find all apps I use are running just fine. I us ON1 and find no delays. Incidentally: on a mac, there has been a handy App switcher for a long time (Command/Tab will show and run thu all the open apps for selection - first one in line is the latest app used. Now, with Ventrua (13.1) Stage Manager is a new and improved version that I haven't fully explored yet.

I am thinking that there appear to be many on this board that have older computers with inadequate memory or outdated video cards if you are having trouble running ON1 2023. This is a powerful, versatile software but like other powerful software requires updated computers. I have had no problems/slowness with ON1 over the years and find it very satisfying and capable - but I have been upgrading my mac about every 4+ years to keep up with demands.

I am looking for a source of glossy inkjet photo paper that has no logo or printing on the reverse side. I plan on printing greeting cards with a graphic on the front, and text on the inside. Logos or manufacturer marks would look tacky.
Thanks in advance.

Red River card stock paper. They have Gloss, Matte and Linen pre-creased card stock - they work flawlessly for me - no smudging, good printing color ranges, etc.

My first Apple was an Apple IIe. It did not require any disk to boot up. It required program disks to do anything. Never herd of an Apple requiring 4 disks to boot up.

Same here.

I love ON1 - it keeps improving leaps-and-bounds and is on sale now for under $60.

Looking at it now. Does the program move your picture files into its library (without the user agreeing to do so) or just view them in the directories where they now exist? I am not a fan of the way something like Lightroom takes over file storage.

Also not a fan of subscriptions and the buy it outright is cheaper (only $69) than 1st year subscription… how can that be? Am I misunderstanding something? Trying to figure out if the $69 on1 does everything that the $159 Topaz bundle.

Something happened to my post ?? This may be repeat.
ON1 finds the files in your file folder structure - no moving. Edits and XMP info files are stored adjacent to original file location. Cataloging in ON1 makes searches faster, but not required. Files remain in place.
Subscripton no needed. Buy one year - keep until you see enough changes to upgrade. ON1 will issue updates during the first year as improvements, debugging, new cameras/lenses supported, etc.
You might find value to buy first year and then continue using as plug-ins for LR/PS, other programs if you don't want to continue.

Killroy: ON1 does not move the image files, it just finds them in the Browse section on your current drives/folders. You don't have to Catalog the file folders, but if you do tell program to catalog them, the searches will be faster.
I buy the program and then only upgrade when I see something new being added or improved that appeals to me, then I will upgrade. They provide free updates during the year you buy when they issue debugging fixes, improvements that users have suggested or new cameras supported, etc. Thus, no subscription needed. I do buy the "Plus" additional as I have found the many Plus user training videos really helpful for education, ideas, reference. At some point I might consider my needs leveling off and drop the Plus annual fee - but it's been worth it so far.
Another thought, it's likely worth trying for the first year just to get the full spread of functions which you could then use as "Plug Ins" for LR, PS or other programs if you don't want to continue ?

Good job - wish you continued success. BTW: if considering Topaz AI - you might want to first look at ON1 2023 with AI, Super Select and lots of other bonuses in addition to leading No-Noise and AI sharpening functions ? Just a thought, price may not be much different and lots of other goodies thrown in.....

Chase down the computer issues (likely need upgrades ?). ON1 2023 is a real break-thru to state of the art leader in many aspects. It is performing very fast response and no bugs showing up so far on my mac mini M1 (2021). They have updated the state of art masking AI already - they are responding to suggestions and user feedback. The whole workflow for me has decreased time spent on each image - and creative options for Effects are broadening my experimentation and treatments. Hang in there - it's worth it.

I had the Sony RX 100 III and loved it (bought used). I moved up to the Model Model VII for the longer zoom primarily (it was easy to adapt with the same operating and Menu structures). I use the popup viewfinder most of the time - I didn't mind the III shut down when I retracted the viewfinder, although I do like the model VII viewfinder faster and more convenient (no need to extend the back and avoids the shutdown). Gave the III to my son and find he is glad to have it. I take lots more images when I don't have to carry the heavy Canon 6 around with lenses so often and I don't have to bend these older knees so much to get low shots with extended/swiveling screen.
If you decide to go the Sony route, I highly recommend buying the FriedmanGuide to Sony RX III or VII. Very well written and I have it in my phone for reference as needed.

Maybe you should take another look at ON1 2023 - it's a banner year:

In my opinion, 2023 version provides quantum leaps in Noise reduction, tack Sharpening (recovers many "not quite sharp" photos), ultra-quick masking (Super Select and Mask AI), full instant view of each filter or presets - all fully adjustable.

I’m using an HP 3 in1 for photo editing but not pleased. When using PSE, I still have to increase brightness before printing. What is the best monitor/desktop for better / more accurate photo pix and accurate printing?

FWIW, I currently have a 10 yr old NEC Multi-Sync PA241 monitor and have been very pleased with printing results. I use an I1Display Plus calibration device (which monitors and adjusts for changes in ambient lighting). The comments about display brightness of a monitor are the biggest difference I've seen - the calibration and my adjustments to match prints to monitor require about a setting of 90 vs. about 150+ as purchased. If and when this monitor dies, I will replace with a BenQ 27" photography monitor (with shade) based on my research and following photographer's reviews recently.

For computer: I am on a Mac mini (late 2021)- my second mini. I find the mini to be all I need for fast and efficient photo processing (using On1 Photo Raw 2023) and has all the speed I need for computing (I am not a "gamer").
