Having just moved from a D850 to the mirrorless Z8, I decided to sell my F-mount lenses for the newer Z-mounts. Optically, the newer Z-mount lenses are generally better than their predecessors (esp. the "S" line). It's hard to make generalizations -- you really have to compare "apples to apples" -- but I'm impressed with the performance of these Z-mount lenses. I prefer not to use the FTZ converter. Is it worth it to make the upgrade? Depends on your budget. I'm glad I made the changeover, and I'm not looking back.

I traded in my Q2 for the new Q3 a few weeks ago, and I am extremely pleased with it. In my view, it’s the ideal travel camera. Higher MP resolution and better autofocus system; great Summilux lens. I know they’re hard to find right now, but it’s worth the wait.

I use my Nikon Z8 for other situations, but the Q3 is a great street camera.

A little hands on moderation would sure help the site. I only look once in a while unless I’m traveling with the some down time, such as now.

Couldn't agree more.

Amen.

My brother and another attorney were just having this discussion about UHH and why it is showing signs of failing and growing long in the tooth headed to dinosaur status.

Exactly right. I don't visit here much anymore. Seems to be less and less useful information on UHH. Mainly just the same group of folks making inane comments and brand bashing. I'm not in to that.

The major resellers of used equipment (KEH, MPB, B&H, etc.) generally offer more for used equipment if you have the original packaging and documentation.

For me, it's the Leica Q3. A 60MP camera with a superb 28mm Summilux lens with electronic zoom to 35, 50, 75 or 90mm focal lengths. Just released, they're hard to find right now, but worth the wait.

Thanks for your response jwreed50. May I ask you? If you had 2 bodies before, for the usual reasons, I assume, why don't you need or want a second body now?

I'm not a professional photographer, and I have rarely found myself really needing a second body. When I had both the D850 and the D500, there were times when one or the other seemed better suited to the task at hand. The Z8 seems to solve that problem. It's essentially the size of the D500 but has the performance capabilities of the D850 and then some. For me, the Z8 really hits the mark.

I traded in my D850 and D500 and my F lenses for the Z8 and comparable Z lenses. Very glad I did it. If I really needed a second body -- and I don't -- I'd get a second Z8. Nikon's "S" series lenses for the Z cameras are a step above their F lens counterparts. As fond as I was of the D850, the Z8 is even more impressive.

The Leica Q2, or better yet, the new Q3. Both use electronic zoom. The 45mp Q2 goes from 28mm to 75mm. The 60mp Q3 goes from 28 to 90mm. Close to perfect as a travel camera . . .

I have used the Epson P900 for about a year. It's a superb printer, and I have had absolutely no problem with a clogged printer head.

I use the Leica Q2 but not the Monochrome. You're more likely to find helpful input on the Q2 Monochrome over on the Leica Forum site:

I have it but frankly never use it -- for me, it's "not worth it."

I believe the latest firmware updates allow Bluetooth-capable Leicas (e.g., the Q2 and SL2) to sync with your mobile phone and transfer GPS data from your phone to the EXIF data in the image files.

I live in Manassas, VA. Lots of sites around here: 1) the Manassas Battlefield National Park; 2) the train station; 3) the Manassas Museum; 4) Old Town Manassas.

If you are going into DC from Manassas, the easiest way to get there is via the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) train. Several trains inbound to DC in the morning and other trains back to Manassas in the late afternoon/evening. Definitely beats the traffic on I-66.

The V850 is available directly from Epson, and Amazon appears to have it in stock as well. It's a great scanner.

Well, the worst thing is to be in a situation where you need your S&W 9mm but all you have is your Canon P&S . . .
