Okay, just out of curiosity let's see if most people use full manual.

If you use full manual at any time, yes, that means even on occasion, please say Aye!

If you never use full manual please say Nay!

I guess since I'm the lucky (or is that dumb) one to ask this question I guess I get to do the counting.

Ready, set, go!

AYE!!!!!!

Are the lights softboxes or ... Well what kind of lights are you using?

I used to be a pro - back when it was common to use photoflood lights for illumination. Sometimes I had to make 4X5 Kodachrome transparencies of old oil paintings. Doing this could be vastly entertaining, especially when the paintings displayed a bit of surfce cracking from age. I used large polarizing gels on my light(s) and a polarizing filter on the camera lens. Careful work always resulted in complete suppression of specular highlights. I was able to get publishable transparencies every time.

haha...welcome to the club.

I use reading glasses hung around my neck on a lanyard. I don't shoot with them, I just use them if I have to do anything up close. Nothing else works for me.

My cameras have a diopter in the viewfinder matched to my "old man vision" so that I can see to focus.

Most of the time though, I use a zone focusing camera...much nicer and much faster.

“welcome to the club”, indeed. I’ve always had this problem. It’s the main reason why I was never able to play sports. In baseball, I could see the pitcher or the ball or the bat - But I could never see more than one of them at a time.

A corrective diopter may well be your best answer. This is a job for your camera dealer.

I have changed from my Nikon DSLR to mirorless because of weight, I recently had a stroke. I have the Fugifilm X-A3 and I like it very much, but no view finder. So what is the answer for shooting outside in the sunlight? The hoods availiable are cheap plastic and just don't work. Is so called antiglare stick on really work?

Lens hoods do work in preventing glare - plus, they provide excellent lens protection.

From what I've read, there's not much need for filters in digital photography. I use UV filters to protect my lens elements. A polarizer for glare or ND filters to reduce dynamic range can be useful when taking a photo but most filter effects can be applied in post.

It depends upon the difference and price. B&H is very good.If you are not happy with the 9 purchase, you can return it.

I agree, I also trust Adorama and KEH.

I define a “Pro” as a competent person who supports him/herself with the photographic craft or art.

I have a Nikon D3300 Camera with two genuine EN-EL14a Batteries.
I would like another EN-EL14a battery, should I consider used or only New?
I have read that I should NOT use "Off-Brand" batteries due to the possibility they might do damage to my Nikon D3300, but the Genuine Nikon EN-EL14a are so expensive.
Please provide your knowledge on this issue that may help me decide.

I have used non-OEM batteries in Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Sony and other cameras. There is no drawback to them.

Ask yourself this: “Who actually builds OEM batteries?”

Well, yes, you do appear to have the hots for the prime lenses you name, so DO go ahead and replace your zoom with them. I you don’t do this, you will always believe your photography is seriously substandard. You will always have to live with the dreaded “What If”? Your life will be ashes.

There is no doubt your photography will immediately improve with primes. So do not delay another moment.

I'll be leaning heavily on all of you, but it will take me a few days to read the User's Manual, so you're all safe for now...LOL. This is a great group. I'm so glad I stumbled across UHH. BTW...who made up the name Ugly Hedgehog? Talk to you all soon!

Good on you! You will not be disappointed in either the camera OR the lens.

What second lens is on order?
