Wahoo! My new camera arrived from Best Buy... right on schedule. Also one of the 2 lenses arrived...the AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm, F/2.8E ED VR! Am I ever having fun. So much to learn. I'll be leaning heavily on all of you, but it will take me a few days to read the User's Manual, so you're all safe for now...LOL. This is a great group. I'm so glad I stumbled across UHH. Welcome to the world of the 850!
You are going to love it in spite of the learning curve.
It is one hell of a GDMF camera.
Enjoy!

I am enjoying the journey of learning mine as well. Have fun with it and post some shots when you're ready.

Great. Can’t wait to get started. Let’s stay in touch and compare notes
Certainly. One of the first things I did was go buy another camera strap. While my crop sensor Nikons seemed fine with their Nikon straps, I didn't care for the D850 strap.

You’re up late! Another night owl? I’ll live with the strap for awhile. I’ve spent too much money already...LOL.
The time change is kicking my butt! I got home from work and could barely stay awake. I fell asleep very early, woke in the night with a headache. It then took a few hours to get back to sleep. I am hoping tonight goes better.
You mention when you joined just having bought a camera, I see you also posted about the purchase of a D7200, and now the D850. What motivated the buying spree?
I'm waiting on David Busch's Nikon D850 user manual ordered off Amazon. His manual for the D810 was outstanding! I highly recommend spending too get hold of his new manual. It is the Bible for my D810 and sure to be so for my D850.

I have been trying to decide which book to get on the D850. I really would like a hard copy, not an ebook, which limits me a bit. I take it that is a hard copy book?
I also have the D850 -- great camera. I recommend Steve Perry's eBook on Nikon Autofocus system (
https://backcountrygallery.com/)
Even after years of owning Nikon Cameras (D80 --> D300s --> D7100 --> D750 --> D850), reading the ebook on the Nikon autofocus system help improve my camera usage.
Enjoy your new D850.

Congratulations on your new gear.
How heavy & hard to hold is it? I love Canon and have never tried Nikon, but the specs & reviews on this camera seem to beat anything I could find in a Canon right now. I want to move to full frame, but I have issues with my hands & neck/back and don’t want to get something I won’t be able to handle. I’ve narrowed my decision between this Nikon, the Canon 6D Mark II, or the Sony A7 Riii. If anyone has preferences I’d love to hear why. Congratulations on what appears to be the top of the line!!!
Congratulations! Check out, Steve Perry. He's a member here and has written several books on the Nikon focusing system. He is also on YouTube. You'll be a much happier Nikon owner if you do. Steve goes into great detail in a methodical manner.
