Correct. In the case of my friends, that threw off what they should have been able to focus on, causing their photos to be blurred. I may be wording that wrong and it may have nothing to do with the problem. We have plenty of helpful members here who may know when they see a photo with the problem. Hope you get this resolved easily.

I assume they were using manual focus for the picture to be messed up and not relying on camera auto focus.

I thought that but wasn’t 100% so I didn’t comment.

I have a 50 mm 1.8 for a D750 I may consider selling, hardly ever used. Now it is for a full frame, not a cropped D500 but it would work.

I took this photo handheld with the I Phone 14 Pro in Norway. The camera automatically switched on night mode and took a long exposure. It required no additional input from me. I had my D850 set up on a tripod but wanted to see if the phone could capture it.

I have a number of friends who have captured great pictures of it recently with just their iPhones.

I really doubt you need that. I have submerged my Olympus more times than I can remember for snorkeling. It has never leaked. I always make sure seals are clean and doors locked before using. Always rinse in fresh water after saltwater use.

Have you considered just buying a used 750 or 780?

Overall metering, white wake on boat, I wish that my camera was that smart!
Easy to push values in any direction, holding some details while enhancing others.

Agree, the wake from that boat is very bright

The plastic bag is to protect from moisture. Mine was heavily bubble wrapped and sealed in a sturdy cardboard box. I think you misread/interpreted Nikon’s instructions.

Exactly, wrap body tight in plastic bag, maybe freezer bag. Then you pack it with the appropriate stuff in a sturdy box. This is exactly how Nikon will send it back.

A friend is considering buying a hybrid and asked my opinion. I gave her some references, but I thought I'd ask for opinions here. Cost, operating expenses, and reliability are three areas of interest.

My friend has a RAV4 Hybrid and loves it. He gets his best mileage just driving around locally vs. highway. Personally I like the idea of a Hybrid much better than all electric. The car charges itself via braking so uses physics to charge its own battery. Now there will be a day to replace that battery but it is cheaper than the huge all electric car batteries.

On my only cruise I had a Lumix pocketable (the ZS100) for land excursions. Except for the zoom limit, it did a fine job.

I have this camera, excellent choice for a basis cruise. I don’t believe it was mentioned if this was an Alaska cruise or something with lots of wildlife otherwise a camera like this is sufficient.

Travel insurance companies can be difficult to work with these days for claims. In years past they seemed more customer friendly and willing to pay claims. Unfortunately I have found lately it can be very difficult getting them to pay even for legit reasons. They wear you down with requests for information and proof of every little thing. Filing a claim can takes months to get through the process.

That is correct, Fat Albert is part of many shows. C130 Turbo Prop. I have been to many and find that sometimes being obsessed with pictures prevents you from enjoying the show as much. With your face stuck in a camera you can miss the overall scope with multiple planes flying at once.

Get some good pictures and enjoy the air show!
