I would like to buy a water resistant camera for my son and his wife to take photographs of the grandchildren in swimming pools and the beach. Any suggestions, specially ones that will not break the bank?
Yep! The TG-6 is around $450 now after the TG-7 just showed up as a pre-order on B&H. GREAT camera!! Not just water resistant, water PROOF to 50 feet!
Thank you. Any waterproof camera I get for my son and his wife will be used in a swimming pool with the kids, not for diving, but the price is in range..

I've had both Pentax W60 (now Ricoh) and Nikon AW1, both have long been superseeded but (current models) would seem to fit your needs. Hopefully, newer versions will work better in low light, but the AW1 is 12 years old now and the Pentax (somewhere on the bottom of La Jolla) even older.
A newer cellphone will do the trick...and then some.
There really is one overwhelming favorite among people who use them... The Olympus TG6 and now the new TG7
If you are on a budget, go with the TG6..... and buy them a floating wrist band and get the red one because if they do manage to drop it in the ocean without a float, you have a chance to find it.

The might be a little tough on any of the rubber parts 9if any). = Just means yo might want to replace every couple of years or what ever the manufacture says.
The TG series is the right choice. The instructions say that if you go to the beach and get it sandy to wash it under running water in a sink! It is that durable!
Yes! Olympus tough, have had 3, they are my “washable” cameras, withstand drops, sand, dirt
Only precaution keep an eye on sealing gaskets
Actually to wash away sand or dirt you open and close shutter under water
Highly recommended

Thank you. Are the cell phones waterproof?
