I think the point had been missed here. I’ve done this with a trailer many times and certainly not to hold down the load. During movement the lateral pressures on the sides of a trailer can be immense and they can burst open. Putting a strap over the top like this supports the trailer sides and prevents this happening.
I get it that this explanation spoils the fun comments though.

I just love the sceptics and the followers of Wikipedia reports.
When I was a youngster involved in farming, we regularly had to locate land drains in fields for a variety of reasons, the common one being to connect new drains into them. Using two copper welding rods bent into an 'L' shape, I could virtually guarantee finding the location of these field drains without fail.
It did not work for everyone, but for me it did every time. I can understand those for whom it doesn't work being sceptical or even ridiculing the process, I've met plenty and their faces have always been a picture when we dug down in the middle of a field and always found the drain at the bottom of the hole.

This is interesting, but the article does explain the reasons for it and the security that has already been implemented. It also explains the potential to upgrade to later operation systems, but of course quite rightly, there is no comment on what the current position is.

This is an old runway scheduled for complete resurfacing, although I guess no one expected this to happen. It clearly assisted in removing the old surface. There are other runways available at this airfield on which the aircraft successfully landed on returning to the airfield.

The original seemed to have first appeared the the Hull Daily Mail, rather than Rochdale. This makes the story even more amusing as Hull has been voted this years 'City of Culture.'

Is it not true that historically speaking every older gereration, commenting about the younger generation frequently starts the comment with, 'The trouble with this generation is......,' or something similar and very few positive comments seem to get made about them. I certainly remember the older generation saying this about us when I was the younger generation.

For shorter measurements I use whichever I believe is most convenient. For weights, especially body weights I prefer pounds. It's seems that it's far easier to lose just over 2lbs body weight than a kilo😥. For longer distances miles is fine, but when driving in Ireland and criss crossing the border, it's often only the speed signs in either MPH or KPH that enables you to tell which side of the border you are.

I use them to mark my golf balls, particularly the retractable version, they are great for that, but I was actually looking for a software programme that enables my printer to print directly onto DVDs

I use Photodex Producer to present many of my photographs and make presentations for others. I have a Canon iP4940 printer and was wondering if any member could recommend suitable software for making labels to print on printable DVDs.

Nowadays, it seems, many companies around the World produce licorice allsorts in addition to Barretts in the U.K. and they all taste a little different.
From their web site:
The Original Allsorts.
In 1899, when accident-prone Salesman Charlie Thompson tripped up, he mixed up all the different sweets he was carrying, creating the weird and wonderful mix of sweets that we know and love today as Maynards Bassetts Liquorice Allsorts. Just as delicious as ever, our luscious Liquorice Allsorts are made only with natural colours & flavours.

I know loads of you hate Windows 10 and have not been slow to post your views.
As the time for access to the free version comes to an end, here is a highly recommended article on Windows 10 to show just how it has
changed in the last year and the big advantages in upgrading FREE before
July 29, 2016. Read the entire article.

From the How-To-Geek: Here's Why You Should Update
http://www.howtogeek.com/263413/you-only-have-a-week-left-to-get-windows-10-free.-heres-why-you-should-update/

Again, let me emphasis that I am not trying to get people to migrate to
Windows 10 if they don't want to, before next Friday when the FREE Offer
expires,
But this reminder will save you $119 for each computer that you have,
and/or $199 per computer if you need Windows 10 Pro.

I suspect a main reason it was stopped was the inglorious scramble to get out of the cinema at the end of the film before it was played. You could get trampled in the crush and in the end very few stopped trying to get out even whilst it was being played. As there is no way to make people stand respectfully whilst the anthem is being played, I suspect that ceasing to play it became the sensible and only alternative option. It is still played at the end of performances where it is known it will be respected.
