I use Photodex Producer to present many of my photographs and make presentations for others. I have a Canon iP4940 printer and was wondering if any member could recommend suitable software for making labels to print on printable DVDs.

I have a different Canon printer, but it came with software to do that. It works well. I think it is called "My Image Garden" (which is a weird name).

Not sure if you mean labels or background...I don't make labels but print directly onto the CD...I use an Epson Printer and just pick a shot related to what's on the disc and use that as a background and then print the title over that...

It's been several years since I've printed labels for discs but, seems to me the last time I purchased Avery CD Labels it either came with a CD or had a link to an Avery website that allowed you to download the software. It took a little practice using plain paper but produced an acceptable result.

As previously asked, are you printing labels, or printing directly on the disc? Labels? Avery has a large array of stuff for labels. If disc, you require a printer that has disc print capability. There are several. I use an Epson, for photos and discs.

It used to be difficult finding a good DVD printer. I've printed thousands with an HP C5280. Lots of choices these days. When you buy the disks, bu sure to get "hub printable." That makes the non-printable area in the center much smaller. I've used all different brands at all different prices, and I've never found a dud brand of disk. Supermediastore.com has a large selection of disks and boxes. SureThing DiskLabeler is very good software for any kind of disk or box printing.

I've been using Avery Design Pro for probably 20+ years. It's a free download and enables you to print almost any type of labels, cards, brochures, etc. using either their pre-made templates or a start from scratch project.

You don't have to use Avery label blanks so long as what you have is compatible with one of Avery's. The only time I had any problems was one time with "removable" labels--maybe they were too old. Staples gives you the Avery compatible number on the outside of their package.

I use Acustica CD Label Maker, the best program I have found. It supports almost any printer.

The easiest, and maybe not the most economical, is to have a printer with the ability to print directly on the CD/DVD. I use my Epson P600 currently, but there are a number of others with this capability. I always had a devil of a time getting the Avery CD label to line up precisely with the CD/DVD. HTH

I don't find that quote in my text.
