The Sony A6000 is an excellent little camera for a wide variety of users. If you are just getting into photography you can set it to the Automatic mode and click away and you will get excellent photos. As you become more skilled in using it and become more familiar with the menu system you will want to start using some of the other features of the camera. I would recommend a good book on the A6000 like David Busch's excellent book available from Amazon at a modest price. The menu system can seem complex at first, but after using it a few times, it becomes pretty simple. A good book on the camera like the Busch book will help immensely. I have two A-6000's and they are a about all I use anymore. Check B&H Photo, Adorama, or Cameta for new, refurbished, or used cameras. They are all reputable companies.

I will be very happy to see the X-T3 come out. Then maybe I'll be able to pick up an X-T2 for around $500.

I see lots of complaints about the current lack of quality in Dell computers. Most of them are overloaded with bloat-ware right out of the box. Until you delete all of the unnecessary stuff you'll never see the speed and reliability they are capable of.

Bloat-ware: "Unwanted software included on a new computer or mobile device by the manufacturer."

""Software whose usefulness is reduced because of the excessive disk space and memory it requires."

She’s not likely to be changing lenses ever as she would find that movement hard to accomplish, so a general purpose zoom is probably what she will end up with.
Thanks

It would be hard to beat the little 16-50mm kit lens that usually comes with the camera. I find it to be an excellent little lens that is easy to use and takes excellent photos. It is also a very light and compact lens. They are around $300 new or around $100+ used or refurbished. With an equivalent focal range of 24mm-75mm it will do it all for normal use.

I am now using the D3100 and am looking to get a D3400 or a D5500. Any suggestions as to which one and where to get a good buy? Used, of course..

To answer your specific question, I would definitely go to the D5500. It's a MUCH better camera in so many ways. Check the comparison below. You can buy them refurbished from B&H at a very good price.

Leaving the Self-Cleaning Sensor out of the D3500 is just hard to believe. What were they thinking? Obviously leaving good and useful features out of new releases is cost-cutting at it worst. Having a usable self-cleaning sensor is the very reason I chose the D3300 over the D3400. IMO the D3300 is the better camera, and remains so, with the introduction of the D3500.

I have David Busch's books for both of my cameras, Sony and Nikon. I highly recommend them. He fully explains every feature of the camera, how to use it, what it does, and everything is fully illustrated with good photos and charts. Highly recommended.

As others have said, charge the battery and put it on Auto. Then shoot away. Modern cameras are amazingly capable.

There it is in a nutshell. Just be sure you put the memory card in the camera first. Then as Jerry says, "shoot away."

Forget all the other stuff until you have more time to study the manual and have time to look at some YouTube videos at your leisure.

I have the ZS-60. I just pull out the card, plug it in my card reader, open the file with the photos in it, click SELECT ALL, and drag them to a new folder on my desktop. The whole process takes less than a minute As mentioned, the WI-FI is pretty useless on that camera.

A single card slot and a lousy battery life are 2 killers for me. I foresee another Nikon model coming out in the near future that will address these major issues. I sure hope so.

I like the Sony 18-105 f4 on mine. It's lightweight and compact and the zoom range is adequate for my use.

Here is an interesting review and comparison of 2 popular lenses you might be interested in. It just showed up on the forum.

Woke up this morning and B&H, Adorama, and Nikon all had the info on the new camera's. Prices are right and the Z6 with the 24-70 f4 for $2500 looks like a winner already.

I think I will hold back my enthusiasm until they have been on the market for 6 months or so and they get all the bugs out of it. If you are brave, pick up the beta edition now and wait for the upgrades. At least you will have bragging rights.

Does Amazon sell Grey Market?

Yes. Read the ads and the warranty information carefully. You should be able to figure it out. Many Amazon products are not sold BY Amazon, they are sold THROUGH Amazon by 2nd tier dealers.

Someone mentioned common sense. Store your Rocket Blower in a dust free plastic bag at room temperature to avoid it becoming a "dust machine". Use it according to the manufacturer's directions that come with the blower. I have used the Rocket Blowers and similar products since the 60's with no problems. Same goes with lens brushes. Use good quality brushes and keep them clean by storing them in a dust free environment to avoid problems.
