I grew up in Colorado, when it was still a rural state. The summer I was 16, A friend and I took a bus trip to Wisconsin with a stopover in Chicago. What I remember was that it was cold, windy, grey and the buildings were looming over me in a very threatening way. Ever since then, I have lived in rural areas. Have no desire to visit another concrete jungle!

I used a Nikon F and before each flight I would paint over all the exposed screws with clear fingernail polish. I still have one of the Nikons and it still works flawlessly.

What ever you do do NOT set your camera down on any part of the chopper as the vibrations resinating through the craft will destroy your camera in short order. My experience comes from long ago when guys were using Nikon F and Leica M2 or 3's and the choppers would litterally vibrate them apart. The one camera that weathered the choppers the best were the Pentax Spotmatic's. Make sure you are strapped in and then make sure again. Be safe and have fun. I love low elevation flying of any kind.

I will be shooting again with Callie, and I like your suggestion. As a side note, this is a very popular hiking area, and as the weather warms, the crowds will increase. We came across a couple of boys hiking in the area, one was carrying nothing, and the other had a mattress strapped to his back.

Hello BW,

I looked at this pic for a long time and thought what would make it OK as it stands. You cannot move the dam, but if it is at all possible to recreate the shoot to do it with Callie's sightline following the taper and perhaps an arm as well. I think that would harmonise the image and make it flow, ones eye would start with her work upwards and back down again, perhaps darken the top left triangle to assist in that.

I agree with you, and that pretty well sums up the conclusion I was in the process of getting. I learn from experimenting, and sometimes the results are intriguing enough to ask for the opinion of others. You should see some of my colossal failures!

If you're going to heavily filter/artwork an image it is really important to visualise before hand and have some sort of plan and end result in mind. I get the strong impression with this you have just applied the effect to a random photo. The end result is therefore discordant and doesn't tell a story.

We were shooting near a flood control dam in Albuquerque, and I liked the strong lines. Then I added DAP with a lighter hand than my previous post.

I love playing with Dynamic Auto Painter. I have used that and a couple of other techniques to produce an "interesting" image. I'll take any feedback.

We have a different problem here than you guys in the rest of the country. Where I live it has been more than 100 days since any measurable precipitation and the daytime temps are fifties and sixties. It has been so warm for so long that my fruit trees are starting to bud. I know we will have at least one more cold snap, so I guess no apples, cherries or peaches again this year. I need your sympathy!

I assume you are talking about my remark about her tattoos. It's really quite easy to put up with most of you, but the negative comments about tattos get tiresome after awhile. I don't like them either, but even my wife has them. She had them when I met her, and as you know, you take them how you find them. Which is why we photograph women with tattoos. Unless one pays dearly or is a photographer of the likes of Robeng, models have tattoos.
I do appreciate your comment, and agree with you that a mediocre shot turned into a "pretty good" image.

Probably #1 the best.

A couple of days ago, I posted an image of this young lady as, "I think I like it". It had its faults, but I still like it. I used Dynamic Auto Painter on it, not to salvage it, but to see what it look like. Here's one rendition along with a black and white, and a couple of new ones. We all know that you don't like tattoos. She has 'em - deal with it!

Good idea for the next time the planets align and I have a model as great as Silver was. Alas, she moved to Portland.

How about making one of the multiples a strong main primary with the others supporting in the background. Change the skirt/costume so that the multiples aren’t so obvious/bland.

One of the reasons I post SFW images here is that I get actual critiques and suggestions. Also, the audience here is more "focused" on image quality and composition. Thanks for the feedback so far.

I had another shoot with this young lady, whom billyspad disliked a lot. I have more to post, but I'm still trying to decide whether I like this shot, or not.

Our neighbor raises chickens but doesn't cull the herd. As a result there is a lot of cross-breeding. She had a couple of Auracana (Easter egg) chickens who lay different colored eggs, but over time they have become a bit drab. So to celebrate my grandson's Christmas leave, she gave us these eggs.
