We have a different problem here than you guys in the rest of the country. Where I live it has been more than 100 days since any measurable precipitation and the daytime temps are fifties and sixties. It has been so warm for so long that my fruit trees are starting to bud. I know we will have at least one more cold snap, so I guess no apples, cherries or peaches again this year. I need your sympathy!

We had that happen up here in Tennessee a couple of years ago. I wasn't just fruit trees, all the trees had budded and got knocked back. It took them a month to recover.

Also we're likely to have another bad fire season. But there's no such thing as global warming. HAH!!!

I have this problem just about every year, especially with my apricot tree. It buds in late winter or early spring then a cold snap kills off the buds. I've come to refer to it as an apricot shade tree. My peach tree will wait a couple weeks and every once in a while I will get fruit on it. Last year was the best year for it since I planted it about 10 years ago, bumper crop of peaches. It was probably the abnormal amount of rain we got last year. Dry as a bone this year. Back to normal.

Just wondering.....if we can build pipelines to pump oil and gas from Texas to New York.....why can't we build conduits to send water from flooding rivers to places like CA and the southwest?

Water isn't as valuable as oil yet and there has been talk of a wall somewhere. The Southwest and SoCal's water problems are only going to become more acute. Not to sound too sanctimonious but ...my wife and I can last 6 mos. on 8000 gallons of rainwater. We live rural, south of Brisbane, Qld, the prevailing wind is south to north. Our grey water is used for fruit trees, we have a duel flush toilet, and another 4000 gal for the vegie patch. No dishwasher, a front loading washing machine. I wash the dishes and make it a personal contest to use as little water as possible, in the shower water is only for getting wet and rinsing off. My cousin in Phoenix, Az can use 8000 gal in a month!
