Thanks, I am looking at buying a Tamron 18-400 zoom and I can buy one that includes the Tap In. It looks like its about a $60.00 extra for free and I don't need another tripod or some other junk some are offering.

Is this something I will need. Or should I just lenses that need to be calibrated to the Manufacturer?

Yep. Have had mine for a month now and am absolutely enjoying it!

Wow! Thanks for all the info, it will help me make my decision. I did not want to spend thousands for a new lens and I understand the shortcomings of this lens. I think it will fit fit my needs since I have no intention of selling my photos and I am truly a beginner at stepping up in my photog
needs. I guess if I can gain enough experience in the future I may better understand all the comments that I have seen. Thanks again to all for your help. Now we can turn it down a notch.

Mr. Goldfield, the 18-400 lens I am talking about weighs 1.4 lbs. and seems to cover most of the potential situations I can think I may be in.

Thanks

Thank you all for previous comments on long lenses for Canon 80-D. I have just read a number of reviews
on the Tamron 18-400mm lens. There were a lot of positive comments. Any one shooting with one now?

Sounds like it might be a good all around one to carry.

This item: Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD for Canon DSLR Cameras (Tamron 6 Year Limited USA Warranty) $945.00

I saw this lens on Amazon and read about 20 reviews. They all seemed pretty positive. I know I can count on the group for some information.

As a new member I must thank you all for your comments on my question about zoom lenses. I think the best advice was to slow down and figure out what I really need and then buy a quality product.

Thanks again for all the opinions.

It was recommended that a 75-300mm lens might be more effective that a 55-250mm lens and would give double the Magnification. I can buy a used lens on an apparent safe website for $149.00 in excellent condition. I need some opinions.

Thanks

Thanks, I am going to buy it this week. It is a little over whelming to try to disseminate all that

the camera is capable of. I was at Best Buys here in Wilmington NC and they have hired a person

that has been shooting wild life ie birds and bees for 30 years to be on the floor to answer

questions free of charge. I went back to see him and was very happy with some of the

suggestions he had. Thanks for your comments

Not sure why you "understand" such a thing. I have both Canon and off-brand batteries and cannot tell them apart in use. Have never had a "bad" battery. I would much rather pay $15 than $65 for an equivalent item. I have plenty, always keep a few charged, so never a problem.

As you know you can read to much on the internet and most of the opinions say only use oem batteries because of the quality difference. Just passing along what I have read and asking for an opinion. I don't mind spending the extra money if there is a value attached.

Thanks

What is the best place to buy genuine canon LP-6E batteries. I understand that third party batteries to not last very long so not worth the savings.

I'm an old drag racer and had a similar thought when I first bought the car 25 yrs ago. I am a chevy guy so it would have been a 283 small block. After starting to work on it I thought it would be better served to keep it stock and restore it. Thanks for your response, I just joined the site because I just bought a canon 80-D with a 35-135 lens and a 55-250 lens after the fact found out it was grey market and joined the site for some opinions. It arrived and everything was in canon boxes and seems ok. I guess the only downside is the US warranty from canon is not there. There is a 1 yr warranty from the seller. I have been reading the manual for four days now, a lot to learn if I don't want to use on AF all the time.
Thanks Again
