Thanks for the many suggestions and comments. Plan for now is to rent a few bodies over the coming months, both dslr and mirrorless. Shoot some volleyball and basketball, and see where my comfort level is, and results.

Years ago I spent my time with an F5 shooting track and field. As to moved away that that and into vacation photos and family affairs, I went digital with a D70, D300, D600. I still have all of these, only using the D600 for sunrises, sunsets, beach scenes. Now I would like to get back to sports, (grand kids), basketball and volleyball. Plenty of FX primes at 1.8, 2.8, and 2.8, 4 zooms. I have run into an issue with lighting in high schools gyms. Barely able to freeze action even with 1.8 primes. Would moving into a D780, or Z6 ii be a solution.

Thanks for your help.

20x30 at Costco $94.00. The savings on 3 prints likely will pay for your membership. Location in Strongsville.

As a diver, I think it would help if you can arrive a day or two prior to your actual snorkeling day(s). Practicing in a pool will help familiarize you with the gear, but it is not the same as being in open water. Waves, current, splashes, will all affect your ability to navigate and to be still enough for taking a photo.

I am 71, and imagine that most of the contributors to this site are of an older generation. That said, today's generation views photos, no matter what they were taken with, on their phone, laptop, or tablet. As does 99% of the world. The differences we speak of between dslr and smartphone photos doesn't matter to them. These were quick shots with an android phone, no thought given to composition, just saw something, shot it. No post processing. Yes, my D600 would have been better photos, I could have tweaked them in post processing, but they are for viewing on a phone which works.

I'm heading to Cabo first week in February that will include a whale watching tour. Is it safe to bring camera gear? Planning on D7200 and a couple lenses (18-400, and maybe 10-20). Alternatively I could just take an Olympus TG-6. In general, any issues taking gear in / out of Mexico?

And you now need a negative test, done within 3 days, to get on a plane to get back into the U.S. Per CDC.

I shoot a D600 and use either a Sigma 24mm 2.8, or 50mm 1.8.

Have had this show up on my Facebook page several times. Wondering if anyone knows anything about it.

Thanks.

Thanks. I have considered mirrorless, but Nikon is out of reach price wise. Otherwise it will involve a full system change. I too much in glass for that.

On an extended vacation right now and realize that after 5 1/2 years, I no longer enjoy lugging around my D600, now with a 24-120 F4 lens. Received my email today from Nikon with refurbished sale prices. Seriously considering going back to DX. At current refurbished prices is a D500 ($1400.) worth more than twice the price of a D7200 ($600.)? Find that my shooting these days are grand kids soccer games, vacation/travel, nothing more complicated than a sunrise or sunset.

Your thoughts from those who have experience with these bodies will be appreciated.

I would like to see photos immediately as I take them on my laptop (Dell) or tablet (Samsung), via D600. I shoot sunrises, sunsets, beach landscapes and would like to see if I got what I wanted, and make any necessary adjustments to settings, and re-shoot if needed. Could I hard wire connect to the laptop? Software?

Thank you for your suggestions.
