Ignore the rice recommendations. There are many posts online that recommend against doing this with cell phones. If you have a dehumidier, put the cameras and dehumidier in the same room, and set the dehumidifier on high. Leave it there for a few days.

I don't understand why light through the viewfinder would have any effect on the ultimate picture (presumably exposure?) When you look at the viewfinder with the Fuji XT30, you are looking at a small version of the LCD on the back of the camera. There is no sensor in the viewfinder and light hitting the viewfinder would have no effect on the exposure sensor in the camera.
Perhaps I misunderstood your question, but as I understand it, there is no "viewfinder issue" with a long exposure.

Back in 2015 I had my yearly checkup and the EKG found an anomaly which called for a Cardiac Cath.
As they were prepping me for the Cath. a nurse ask me what med I was on, Told her allergy meds. and B/P meds. she said at your age, that's all yep. Well they took care of that !!
The Cath. revealed some minor blockage in one small artery now on now on five meds. But they worked for a long time.
A Sunday morning this feb. I woke up with a tightness in my chest @ 1:00 a.m. it didn't hurt but it wasn't normal
I had been having these twinges that lasted never more than a min and my cardiologist and I decided to just keep an eye on them.
Sunday morning at 4:00 am I went down the road to the Ambulance House and the medics ran a strip and found nothing going on, Monday morning I called Dena left a message , she called back a little later, the told me to increase one med by 50% and not over 100% and come in Tues. unless I didn't get relief well the 50% didn't help so 20min I took another 50% and got relief almost immediately .
Wed morning they ran a strip and nothing was showing up, So time for another Cath. Fri. Talked to the surgeon and told him it the blockage was marginal to go ahead with the stint he agreed, well now I have the stint and three more meds. But everything is back to normal. Dena told me I might still have the twinges but with time they should diminish.
Our hike to Greer Spring the weekend before last was a test, I passed !!!
Back in 2015 I had my yearly checkup and the EKG f... (show quote)

Hopefully they did not skimp on your stents! :>)

This is ranking based on nothing. Such rankings mean absolutely nothing. There are too many variables to measure and this includes so little information as to be useless. It is not worth the effort to post.

Totally agree. A totally subjective view of one person based on no objective analysis.

If you’re going to be possibly exposing your camera to water, then probably your best choice would be the Olympus TG-6 Tough. It’s waterproof and just plain tough. You won’t be able to do a lot of controlling of settings as it’s pretty much automatic or semi-automatic, but it’s a great camera for that type of environment.

Totally agree. I have the TG-5 and have found it to be an excellent compact camera, particularly in wet environments. I take it snokeling, fishing, etc. and found it easy to use, durable and takes excellent pictures.

I have you all beat. I went to school for a few years in Alamosa, CO (7200' above sea level). Before global warming, it was often one of the coldest places in the nation. One night my car broke down when it was -36 (acutal temp, not wind chill). Fortunately someone stopped and gave us a ride to town.

It is difficult to tell from your post how many slides you have. If you have thousands, the first step may be to use a lightbox and decide what is really worth keeping. Undoubtedly, many can be disposed of. If you are not planning to make high definition prints of the ones you keep, and don't want to buy a lot of equipment, I suggest you use a commercial scanning company. I used Scan Cafe and was very pleased with the results.

Think Before You Donate

I question the information you have posted. Further down in this series, someone suggested looking at Charity Watch to determine if a charity is worthy of your support. So, I looked up Goodwill, which you say is not worthy of support. Charity Watch gives it an "A" rating, and states that it $98 of every $100 they raise goes for charitable purposes. That seems to be at odds with what you have posted. I have not bothered to look up all of these charities, but question the information you have posted.

Plus, a separate video card with at least 6-8GB of VRAM!

Good catch. I should have included that.

I don't think there is one "best laptop" for photo editing. Any reliable brand that has a reasonably fast processor (i5 or 7 Intel, AMD equivalent, or any of the new Mac's) plus at least a 1 TB SSD and at least 16 MB of memory (some will argue that should be 32 mb) should work fine. Some of the gaming computers (you don't need the fastest version) easily fulfill these requirements, but a gaming computer is not a necessity. I use a Dell G15 and it has been fine.

I have had two Brother Laser printers. They have both been very reliable. I have found Brother's phone support to be excellent. I would recommend you call them. No long waits on the phone; no speaking to someone whose English is difficult to understand, and successful on solving problems.

I'm hoping some of you tech types might be able to help me. One of the remote keys for my 2022 Honda CR-V just stopped working a couple of days ago. I've replaced the battery with a new one, but it still doesn't work. It hasn't been dropped or immersed, and is seldom used. The local dealer's parts department tells me that these keys "don't just lose programming." Three local locksmiths have no other ideas than replacing the key. I'm still hoping to avoid that. Any ideas? TIA!

This car should still be under warranty. Not sure if your warranty covers the fob, but it is certainly worth checking. At the very least, the dealer may have some trick to get the fob working again. I would start there.
