My state has a Republican Governor who hasn't been strict enough with his P******c orders, but a Democratic Legislature in what used to be a very red state.
The closest border state to where I live has a Republican Governor and a Democratic Legislature but is closely following the scientific and medical findings and advice. They've recently put travel restrictions back in place, but my state still has virtually open borders, which is a problem.
When I do venture out to grocery shop about once every 3 weeks, over 75% of the plates on the vehicles in the parking lot are out of state plates.
With the out of control spread of the C****-** V***s it's dangerous to shop on weekends, I have to get up extra early and shop before I log on to work remotely to try to avoid potential infection from people who don't believe that the v***s is a real health threat to them or others around them.
By the way, I will only work for a business in that border state even though I have to pay the non-resident taxes, and that's by choice. The minimum wage in my state is $7.25 per hour. In the border state, the minimum wage is $12.75, which goes up to $13.50 on January 1st.
Also the huge difference in unemployment benefits is substantial. In my residential state, they're tied for 26th in the country, maxing out at just over $26K. In the border state, they max out at just over $78K, and rank 1st in the country with what they can pay in unemployment benefits.
So it's well worth it for me to drive about 5 miles from home into that state for a better paying job and nearly triple the potential unemployment benefits should I need them!
