I just purchased a 50mm f/1.8 lens. The lens is now selling for $176 vs the 50mm f/1.4 of over $400. And the 50mm f/1.8 for the D1700 Nikon is actually a slight better the the f/1.4. See the ephotozine.com below and compare it to the f/1.4.

I find it interesting that you can't use a Camera in the Alamo but you can use a gun with a permit. That means that with a permit you can shoot a gun. Let your mind do what it wants from here!

What do you know, I have 3 different cameras, Nikon D5300, Sony A6000, and Lumix ZS100. All on Daylight Savings.

Over a year ago I sold my Nikon D5300 and all my lenses to my brother in law and bought a Sony a6000 mirror less camera. It was 1/2 the size and 1/2 the weight. I liked the compaction and size. As I started to buy lenses for the new camera I was shocked at the limited availability. And also the cost of the Sony lenses. I started to buy Sigma and Samyang fixed lenses that were excellent and very low cost. Also I purchased a used Nikon D3500 body and a very reasonable Nikkor 70-300mm excellent lens. I am now building up my Nikon lenses again. The reality is that the Nikon is much less costly than the Sony. And the new Nikkor lenses are awesome. I still have my Sony a6000.

I have the Nikon D5300 and I am very happy with it. Personally I don't like the touch screen on the D5600 as it does thinks that I don't want done. If I were to go up it would be the D7200. Otherwise I am very happy with my D5300. By the way I also have the Sony a6000 with is great for carrying around.

I have the Sony a6000 and I am very happy with it. I would recommend the kit lens, it is very sharp and compact. I would suggest that you go to Flickr and look at the photos that they have. I believe that you will be surprised what the camera and lens can do. If you are on a budget, I would second what has been said about manual focus lenses. Rokinon and Samyang have very excellent lenses. Also for a little more the Sigma lenses, auto focus and make excellent lenses. My opinion is that the these lenses are not only less cost but are sharper and more rugged.

I have the Sigma 19mm, 30mm and 60mm lenses for my Sony a6000. I find them less costly and much better that the Sony equivalent lens. They are sharper, easier to use, more rugged and lest costly than the Sony lenses. I use the 30mm lens as my every day lens because of the 45mm effect which I like better than the 50mm lenses and more usable. I use the 60mm lens as a closeup lens boarding on a macro and it is the sharpest lens that I have ever used. I recently purchased the Sigma 100-400mm and it is excellent. I am sold on the Sigma line.

I have a Nikon 5300D DX and I have had the Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 which I bought for the price and it worked well for me. I wanted to try the Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 for the ultra wind angle and it was excellent, but pricey. Long story but I finally got the Nikon 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6 and I find it very sharp. What I would recommend is Googling: "review Nikon 10-20, or any other lens that you are interested in". There will be a lot of reviews to read and the best have detailed testing. It is the best way that I have found.

I have had the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 for my Sony a6000 and have never had a problem. In fact I have a number of Sigma lenses for my Sony a6000 and I find them superior to the Sony line of lenses for the a6000. And much less costly.

My experience with UPS was bad and good. When I lived in Big Bear, CA at 8,000 ft in the mountains it was very poor especially around Christmas time. We have heavy snow during that time and the delivery people are way over worked and 8:00 pm deliveries weren't unusual. Even non deliveries happened. They had to put chains on their trucks and drive up the mountain which took at least one hour assuming no accidents.
Now I live in Camarillo, CA and deliveries are at 1:00 to 2:00 pm left on the front porch and haven't missed once.
It all depends on where you live and the driver.

Aye, altho I have purchased third party manual most of the time as the Nikon, Sony, etc is written by manufacture rather that by photographers!

I bought the Sony a6000 over the newer cameras and I'm glad that I did. The newer cameras are much more costly but don't really add value that was worth to me. The 16-50mm lens is actually very good. Check it out on Flickr. The Sony lenses are costly for what you get. I bought an 8mm Rokinon fisheye, a 12mm wide angle Samyang and a 30mm f/1.4 Sigma, all better lenses that the equivalent Sony lenses. The telephoto lenses are way to costly. For that I bought a Nikon D5300 used from B&H and a Tamron 16-300mm zoom and both cost less that the Sony zoom lens and the Tamron has a wider zoom. I also bought the David Busch's Sony a6000 Digital Photography book. It is excellent and organized better that any other source that I know. The manuals from Sony and Nikon have you jumping to page to page for a simple answer while David Busch give you the answer in one place. Besides that it gives excellent general information about cameras in general. The best thing about the Sony a6000 it is half the size and weight of a DSLR and uses the exact same sensor as the Nikon. And to boot it has more capacity. Only down side that I have found is the battery doen't last as long as a DSLR. I solve this problem by buying an extra battery from Watson. Less than half the cost of the Sony battery and the same capacity.

I am also "color blind". I have the exact problem that you mention. I can use the blue/yellow settings when I am correcting the color of photos but I leave the red and greens alone. I can see the colors but can't discern the tones. I don't let this stop me from enjoying color pictures. Some times I get a funny look for these colors but I don't let it bother me. I was in junior high before I found out that I was red/green color blind. I was at the optomitrist's office and he tested me with a book of color dots and I could see the first 2 pages and after that it was no go. The good news, when I was in the Army, It kept me from working with explosives! It also kept me from flying. The bad news is it didn't keep me out of the Army.
