I have the Nikon D5300 and really like it. Is the Nikon D5600 worth up grading to? What are the improvements? Would I noticed a difference if I made the upgrade? Thank you for enlightenment that can be offered.

I made the upgrade this year. There are only two upgrades I recognize:
1. The touch screen interface.
2. Snapbridge.
There is one loss I regret: the infrared release.

I am pleasently surprised with how much I like the touch screen on the D5600. It takes the info screen operation of the D5xxxs to a new height of elegance. (I hope you use the Info screen control method. I have seen here that many D5xxx users use the menus for control. A big mistake. The active info screen control is to me a big advantage the D5xxxs have over the D7xxxs).

Snapbridge is pretty good and superior to the previous wifi interface. It enables remote release, although I much prefered the simple infrared release I kept on the camera strap and required no set up.)

Snapbridge also rectifies the removal of in camera gps. I don’t use the gps. It was a battery drain on my D5300.

If you really like the D5300...keep it. It's not worth upgrading to the D5600.

I also have a D5300 and love it. I personally would never consider the D5600 because I don't like touch screens. But that's a personal bias; the only reason I mention it is because you should make sure you're comfortable with it before you get one.

You can’t appreciate how nice it is till you use it. I didn’t think I’d like it either till I got a Lumix woth one. Using it for control on the D5600 is elegant.

I hear you. That's why I said it's a personal bias. I just don't do well with touch screens - tablets, car monitor screens, etc. My problem, but I believe there are others who feel the same way.

I still use the D5300. I would probably buy a refurbished D5500 if anything happened to mine. I like the infrared release too, and I could learn to live with the touch screen. https://www.cameta.com/Nikon-D5500-Wi-Fi-Digital-SLR-Camera-18-55mm-VR-DX-II-Lens-Black-Factory-Refurbished-89745.cfm

My suggestion is to buy a Nikon D7200. You can use DX and FX lens with this camera. The best of both worlds.

Tough choice: spend money or not spend money. I prefer to spend. Use the links below to see if the expense is worth it to you.

Read comparisons and specs, and decide what features are important to you.

No picture you take with the D5600 will be distinguishable from one taken with the D5300 (I own a D5200).

one of the things i hated about my Nikon was having to go into the menues all the time. I now own a camera with a touch screen and can't rave enough about how much easier it is to make the adjustments I use all the time. It only took a little getting used to but it is oh so much better.

They can do that with the D5xxx and the D3xxx also, they have the same sensor as the D7200. What's your point?
