The only people that should care what anyone else buys should be stock holders in that company. They both learned to make optics from the Germans during WWII. The German teachers brought cameras to photograph their travels. They both introduced their first production camera in 1948. Each new model since then has some new feature that the other doesn't have. So, at any given time one might have the edge over the other. For most of us the decision to buy one or the other is economic. We have an inventory of one manufacturers lenses that we can't afford or can't be bothered to replace. There are some idiots in the world that think everyone should own what they own. Maybe to validate their own decision. They probably have an opinion on Fords vs Chevys too.
While Canon and Nikon have been the leaders for a long time there are now many other choices. So if you're looking for a new camera, don't ask here. You'll just get a bunch of BS. Read the reviews. fondle the hardware and make up your mind what's right for you.
Remember I said those Germans, that came to Japan to teach, brought cameras? Look at daddy and his two children by different wives.
The only people that should care what anyone else ... (show quote)

YES I totally agree with that . I had several Uncles that brought Leicas, Lugers and Mausers home from WWII

Funny what we all miss by always looking ahead but never behind, from always looking down but never up.

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. I do a lot of river/creek photography. What I see walking upstream is totally different when I turn around and walk the same path downstream.

OMG I agree totally with your re the flippy display. It has allowed to me to take photos that I never would have been able to take. I had a D5300 and a Canon G7X MKII and lost them both in the wilderness slipping and the ice and dropping the other one in Horton Creek in Northern Lower Michigan. I have yet to replace either. I will sure view this recommendation.

I recently purchased a new iPhone11 Pro. I tried it for several days and returned it as it did not take photos as good as my iPhone6 . I was hoping it would be better.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING. I have lenses from the 8008 as well and FM2 . They all work fine on my D5300 but do not auto focus. ????? I have been manual focusing.

I really like mine an immense amount. I do mostly nature photography for the Little Traverse Conservancy in Northern Michigan. I tried swimming with mine in Horton's Creek after rolling over in my Kayak from not paying attention. Before I was dry I had ordered another one and am using it now. I use a Nikon D5300 and a tri pod when I am walking and on solid ground. The G7 is perfect for skiing and all events that require great photos without difficulty carrying a lot of equipment.

I TOTALLY AGREE. I have a stunning WISTA 5 X 7 FIELD CAMERA with stunning wooden body with a Kodak Ektar and a Schneider Kreuznach Symmar-S resting quietly in my office closet.

I usually have vibration setting "on". The majority of photos I take are landscapes, from vistas to up close details. ISO 125 either apeture or shutter setting. I did take a few photos recently with the setting on SCENE:LASNDSCAPE and they came out darker but sharper. I am using the 18-140 mm lens. Before the drop, I had no complaint about sharpness. I am ready to call NIKON and discuss.

Could you give some more info and tell us the shooting conditions/subjects/lens when the camera takes "verry fuzzy from time to time"? Sounds to me as though it could be the photographer rather than the camera that is causing the problem.

I am on my tri pod almost 100% of the time
