thank you for all your responses... I have decided not to upgrade ..unless there is a crazy deal i find(i dont expect to...) as I realized I take pictures I am totally happy with.. and get comments from others that they are also great..
will look into fast prime lens instead..

Hi fellow photographers. I am a sony user.. and have all the lens(some high quality) so I am stuck..sort of with staying with sony(dont feel like starting from scratch). any whoo will keep it brief..
I have a 2 sony a7r iii cameras (one really backup) and usually upgrade every 3-4 years. I sort of want to get a newer sony but after over info reading.. not sure if I should. One concern is that if I wait.. the value of the camera will be not even worth selling..so upgrading will be more costly(count on the money I get from older camera to assist with newer on. was looking at a7r v .. but seems like the a7r iii is better with low light/less noise w higher iso. there are numerous other better aspects to the a7r v but looking at less expensive models (a7 iv .. ) as the a7r iv is an option.. I would just jump to a7r v if I would go that route. I sort of have the money but feeling that "Do I really need it?" I am content with the a7r iii and agree with most reviews (the auto focus would be a better keeper rate with portraits with a7r v but also a heavy national park lover ((not professional..yet!)) but a7 iv has same I believe but having an issue downgrading mp.

bottom line is do I take the loss and know that I will get very little for a7r iii when i do sell it(will eventually) or eat the higher cost of 7rv or take the mp loss as I do really know its not going to effect the way i take pictures.
add'l issue with the a7r v is the extra space I will need to store(again not really needed but i only shoot in uncompressed raw..because with digital .. this is the negative of the picture and want the highest available saved image. Fell free to attack me as I want advice.. and looking for criticism even if its rough

will still have one a7r iii a as back up (or can use for low light ....) and use a7r v or iv for flash / regular iso levels.

thank you for any input... this is mainly for a trip to mt rainier in july fyi

hi
actually I can get there and pay the fee on Thursday (though weather listed as iffy that day) and not sure if I could get there in time (my flight comes in thursday morning) but once I pay thursday (which does not require reservation) I can go in friday without one. honestly if that was the case it would make my decision easy. as well i have a 2nd chance on wed (they leave 50% 2 days before).

thanx for ye reply.. been to everyone except antelope... which was a possibility.. but after reading some reviews saying that its a 10 - 15 minute walk (in which you are hurried through) for what i saw about $100.. and saying its not really worth it.. but still not off the list offially if I dont go to yosemite

Hi
I am going to california and was planning to go to yosemite essentially for one picture (the fire waterfall) (though would of enjoyed doing other things) and due to the snow having limited access to the park.. and then 2nd part would be going to Kings Canyon.. (dont mind the driving) but rethinking going to Kanobe area (Bucksin Gulch, revisit zion(last time was there .. was lousy weather not ideal pictures) and seems 0ne 7 ish drive to an area that has relative things to see within normal driving time) as opposed to yosemite then kings canyon( (again with winter have to drive like 5 hours to get to kings canyon) I have 4 1/2 days .... whats your opinion???
1 - yosemite - 2days kings canyon 2 days (and that hoping good weather for the fire waterfall picture)
2 - bucksin gulch/zion/antelope canyon/and other places (with one 7 hour drive)

thanx for the input

Hi
I will be going to denver and will have about 2 days to wander around. I am already planning to got to estes park and nat'l rockies. I was thinking of heading down to new mexico as I have never been there before. been to utah and been to zion/canyon / arches / . I like the more adventurous trails lke angels landings, and hiked(climbed the ladder up yosemite of el capitan.) I know alot of driving will be involved.. but willing to do it. Possibly did i miss stuff in Utah??? Thanks for the assistance

We took the dogs and spent three days last week in Moab. In seeking advice on where to go for photo ops, a wise old local asked if I wanted the standard iconic park shots or other shots that Moab provided. I opted for the latter and spent the next morning's sunrise on Route 128 north of Moab next to the Colorado River watching what the winter sun revealed.

Hi

hi
I have a a850..just got a used a900.. and started with the a100(with digital)... but have had the nikon f4 and then switched to the minolta 9xi ...(which I still have...)

honestly I got sony because I had all the lenses and flash already.. but my pictures are just as good as taken by other cameras .. I have to agree with the sentament that is is the person behind the lens.. as people remark on the pictures i have taken..each manufacturer has it pros/cons..(with sony noise at high iso ) but the pros outway that,,(and Its rare i use high iso anway )

I dont like the new a99 because of the evf.. I keep my cameras a long time.. as i see it as another screen that can possibly go bad..

thanks for your input,, as I decided to go with the old ovf , and for the reason that it is something else to break..as I plan to have this camera forever (unless I hit lotto!!!) and seeing the scarcity of finding used a900/850.. seems like most people are holding on to them.. and thier value relativly staying on the higher end..

thanx for the help

I was wondering if anyone has had issues with a time lag on evf's , I am looking to get another camera, and it would be the sony alpha a99. Then reading a few articles , they mention about a time lag with the evf. otherwise I would get a hold of a used a900 (which seem to becoming harder to find). I currently have a a850.. and have no complaints with it.
thanx for the help
