All Sony Users please confirm.
I want to know how many of you?
Do you like your Sony?
What you'd like from Sony?
etc.
I don't work for them, but on Sony Rumors I hear a lot of gripes and wanted to get Ugly hedgehogs opinion and if you might want to change brands, etc.
It can dslr, dslt, point shoot, high zoom owners.
Tell me what you like and don't like.
If that's to much? say so by one word decline.

First, forget Sony rumors altogether. You know the saying that if one receives good service, that person might tell one or two people but if they receive what they feel is bad service, the whole world knows in ten minutes.

I am a loyal Sony owner. I have had two difficult repairs that I had to send in. The first one was on my a500 (a super camera by the way) I sent it in along with 3 lenses. The repair was technically not a warranty repair. They repaired it anyway at no charge. They called me and told me that the repair would take a while. Then they called me twice a week to update me. For the type of repair, I do not feel that it took that long. They could not repair the lenses so they sent me 3 new ones at no charge. They did not have to do any of this.

The 2nd camera that I had repaired was due to a fall down the stairs. It is an a580. I love it. Every bit as good as the Nikon d7000 with a few more features. It even uses the same sensor. I was smart enough to buy the extended warranty. The lens I had on it was a 75-300mm lens. I could not get it off of the camera. The lens was not under warranty. I did not like that lens much anyway. Poor focus and lots of fringing.

Same thing, They called me and told me that they had to wait on parts. Then they called me and told me that they had to send it back to the original factory for further repair. What I did not know is that they were setting me up!

What they actually did was they repaired the lens also and sent it to the factory for calibration and then they calibrated it to the camera. It is now my favorite lens. They did not charge me for the lens repair. This too was done in a reasonable time.

In actuality, one can not buy a better quality camera with all of the features than a Sony. Plain and simple. Their I.Q. is excellent. Their durability is also excellent. Their kit lenses are above average. For their point and shoots, you can not beat the Carl Zeiss lens.

But to be honest, the one exception is the a99 which goes at almost $3,000.00. About the same as the Nikon d800. Both have excellent I.Q. but at 36mp, the d800 beats it. Even though the video is a little better on the a99, I think it is way overpriced. If I were to go for a full frame camera I would go with the Sony only because I already have a bunch of full frame Minolta lenses that will work on it. Otherwise, if I were starting fresh and I had that kind of money, I would go with the Nikon.

Sony also makes most of the sensors for the other brands also. This includes Nikon.

I just wish that Sony was more aggressive in their advertizing. I feel if they did this, their sales would go way up and be worth the expense.

I used to own 3 television repair shops and all of the Sony parts were always 100% better than any other brand. I have never had to replace a repair component twice; never. That says a lot. Their service toward me was excellent there also. I can not say that about RCA, Hitachi, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Samsung, Sanyo all of which I was an authorized servicer also.

Shall I keep going?

It's nice to know you. I love it.
One question Do you think you got better service from Sony because you use to repair there T.V. ?
I've had hit or miss with Sony Repair. Although I got a cam from them after they could not get parts for mine. It was refurb and there was a default with it when I got it, but it was minor and the cam is still fine today.
I had a vx1000 and they sent me vx2100. So it was a nice trade.

I went to camera store here in mass. I tried the A99 nice feel. I have a A77 and A55, A hx1, Dcrvx2100, many other stuff, Shall I go on.?
My dad turned me on to Sony with his KDL25XBR. wow that T.V. was nice for it's time.
Now I have 40XBR LCD. Nice T.V. plenty of inputs.
I was just curious about others here. Nobody is going to make me feel I made a mistake about buying Sony products.
Nice to know you. Thanks!

No, I never told Sony this. By the way, I lived in Framingham for 6 years. I miss it more than Chicago, my home town. Love the history.

I have the Sony a57 and so far I like it. I'm still learning how to use it properly but for the most part it's great.
The only thing I don't like is their raw file format. This arw is a royal pain. I simply can't understand why they didn't go raw. Now I have to convert all my files before I can use it in photoshop elements 10 and in some of the other image processing soft ware that out there. I think there are some things all the manufacturers should standardize just for the sake of their customers.

Unless they are keeping it under wraps, I don't think you are going to either. Too bad. Their consumer cameras are nothing short of fantastic! You don't notice any bias on my part do you? Actually, their a900 is a full frame studio camera with a tethered output. It came out some time back.

I too have a Sony, I have an alpha 300 I've had it for almost 4 years now. I enjoy it very much. I have not had to to send it to Sony for any work so I can not comment on that.

I have had three Sony cameras; A-100, A-900 and now an A-99. I loved them all. the A-99 is fantastic and the Zeiss lenses are superb.

Sony rocks!
