GREAT NEWS!

A year and a half ago I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. After three operations and treatment (and six months out from the last operation) I went in today for a checkup. As of now, I am cancer free. I had been dreading this appointment.

What a great way to start the New Year. Praise the Lord.

Wonderful news! Great way to start the New Year.

After an afternoon of short trail hiking, I took a “Road Less Traveled” (a dirt/gravel road), while visiting Petit Jean State Park (and mountain), in Arkansas. I came upon this awesome scene of the setting sun. The young man was already sitting on the overlook. After chatting with him about the beauty of the sunset, I took this single photo of him, sitting and contemplating. I thought it to be a near perfect setting.
It is less than 1 hour drive from my home. Petit Jean is It is a wonderful photographers destination. It rises some 1,120 feet above the Arkansas River Valley, and is a plateau. It has cliffs, streams, and a 95 ft. waterfall Cedar Falls, which is quite photogenic, very large boulder areas. The roads going up are relatively(?) steep!

I spotted this large Eagle on a power pole just ahead of me.
I was driving on a two lane paved road and was lucky there
was enough room on the shoulder to pull over and get a few shots.
Nice surprise to start the New Year.

Nice capture of the golden eagle!

[quote=Photolady2014]Well, it has been a very busy few days back and I have not worked very many photos as of yet.

From what I understand it has been warm north, so not as many birds have gone south to Bosque del Apache yet. There were birds, just not as many and the fields had not been flooded with water by the park yet, so the birds were farther away than normal. Oh well. I have some nice photos. These are just some cranes. No special light or pan blur, but a nice crane photo...

I really tried to get them taking off and running across the water. I have lots of photos to look at and I'm hoping I will have some better than these where I got just the last part before take off. It was hard to not have another bird in front or behind making it just look messy.[/quot

Beth, wonderful set of one of my favorite birds. Love the contrast and detail in your work.

This three-shot pano was taken near Jederick's neighborhood. This is what he leaves behind while he is out on his adventures. Lone Peak in the Wasatch Range is on the southeast end of Salt Lake Valley.

Photo was taken during the golden hour at almost sundown using my new Z9 and 70-200mm f2.8 lens at 130mm.
Steve

Beautiful color and detail as well great work on the pano.

My last trip to Yellowstone was a week ago. Of course I had to make a visit to Old Faithful to try for better photos than I had taken last time I was there. It seems I get home, look at the photo of Old Faithful and just don't like something about them. I do like these photos but will try for better next time. I even included a black and white version and I do like it. Next time I would like to take a film camera with black and white film to see how that works out. But how do you like these? That is important to me.

On one of the photos you can see another geyser erupting toward the left side of Old Faithful. I have never noticed before but that geyser seems to erupt when Old Faithful does. Interesting.

Please feel free to make any comments.
