I'm late but on this day in 1968 I got married and still have the same wife 52 years later!

Born in 1928, I also had a great appreciation for AM radio - and shortwave. I had a Zenith "portable" (suitcase size), and later, a Hallicrafters S40, and spent many nights finding stations around the world (instead of doing my homework). There were many good programs on AM in those days. Favorites included "Information Please", with Oscar Levant, Franklin P. Adams and John Kieran, all incredibly knowledgeable on almost all subject matter; "Gunsmoke, with William Conrad, Howard McNear and Parley Baer - perhaps the first program to make extensive (and very effective) use of sound effects; and "The Jack Benny Show", with the greatest comedian of all time, Dennis Day, Eddie Anderson and Mel Blanc. There were, of course, many other great programs.

WOW! Can't believe you were picking those up in 1928 in Baguio! I visited there in 1968 or 69 during the 'Independence Day' celebrations perhaps. Is the silver making school still operating? Bought some things there for my wife.

They have some tough games coming up, so we'll see. Below is the summary of week 12 vs. the Packers.

I think the game to watch will be with the Pats. Their QB got a good start with the Pats.

Went out this weekend to try to get some foliage pictures, was hoping that the storm we had earlier in the week didn't wipe out all the foliage. These pictures are from the historical section of New Salem. I only saw one picture from this area posted previously on this site. The last picture is a hitching post to tie up up your horse. There are a number of them along one side of the toad.

I believe that is ME not MA for Mass.

Of course it won't be read but it will give them more things to distort and whine about.

Agree but they would not know what the heck he was talking about!

Blue Angels performed over the weekend in Davenport, Iowa this past weekend. Took many shots and did some quick post processing on a few.

Has anyone sailed on smaller cruise ships that operate in Alaskan waters? Not the mega cruise ships of 1,000 plus people.
Thanks

In 2017 we did a trip on Holland Amrica - smaller ship going inside. The only problem is they stop at the various 'cities' on the way up and it is like being in the Carib with all the company owned stores. Food was okay and we had an upgraded room with concierge and a few other extras. You have to pay additional for internet services which I thought was a real rip off. The room was pretty nice.

My wife and I will be taking a river cruise from Bucarest to Budapest in October with a couple of days in Transylvania. Any suggestions for interesting places to photo?

I woud recommend a trip to the Mall in Pest. It has some amazing places to take picture of. As noted from everyone else there are so many places to photograph you could spend a month there just doing that.

I am for a six day trip to Iceland. I am shooting with a Nikon 850 . I have a large assortment of lenses, but would like to travel light. Any recommendations for what lenses to bring?

I took my 70-200 - heavy but worked well as a walk around. We only spent 4 days there but I plan on going back for at least one week if now longer. We were there late Aug last year and weather was wonderful.

I am debating to buy one of these two lenses. Since the f2.8 is on sale is it worth the extra funds? I compared the specs and 2.8 looks better in spite of the still noticeable cost difference. In use, what are the advantages one over the other?

BTW I am new here. I have been reading for a few weeks. Great site.

I have the 2.8 and love it. The only downside is weight! I use it for a walk around most of the time.

It's all over the news today!!! Not !!! Had an acquaintance this morning say "well there's no WWII day". A lot of us Viet Nam Veterans were met with angry protests when we returned. I was hit with a bag of runny feces at the Honolulu airport after spending 2 years there...YEAH I THINK WE DESERVE A MEMORIAL DAY...Thank you all that served during that dirty little(?) war that NOBODY wanted...….I am posting some photos of reflection honoring us and especially our fallen comrades.....Semper Fi (always faithful) to all Marines and all veterans of all the services.
