If you go in the summer take time to book the places you want to stay early like 6 months in advance. It is becomeing a popular place to go for everybody in the world it seems. In the summer time you can drive yourself but in winter I would let somebody that lives there do the driving. When you get outside of the city on the ring road you think you are the only one out there until you pull up to one of the waterfalls. 5 buses an people looking for somewhere to park. Go early an stay late an you will get the good light an few people. You will love the Jokulsarlon lagoon an the ice beach. I could stay here for 3 or 4 days. Big clumps of ice on a black beach. A photographers dream,it was for me.

I was there last May. I used 24-70 most of the time an the 16-35. You will encounter over cast most of the time an lots of wind. The temp was about 38 in the morning an 45 to 50 in the afternoon. It is a great place to do landscapes, every where you look there seems to be an image. Just be prepaired for wind. The weather changes all the time. Have a great time, you will love Iceland.

If you had the lens for 5 years sell it for 700 it should sell fast on creglist. If you bought it new at 1700 that would have been about 200 a year it cost you to use it.Most are going for around 900,
under cut an u will sell it fast. Like others said there a ton of the old ones out there an seems everybody wants one of the new ones. That's why they are hard to get.

My cousin went with me to Florida on a birding trip,an had the new 80-400 for 5 weeks an it was working fine until we got there an it would not focus then the zoom locked up he was sick. Called nikon they said send it in an would check it out. He got an email from them saying it had internal damage an would cost 700 to get it fixed. Never dropped the lens or did any thing to cause it to stop working. They should have fixed it since it was under warranty.I would have been pissed off if it were mine.

Have both an hands down the 1dx wins every time. If you are one that hates noise 1dx wins buy a long shot with me. Had two original 7ds an hated the noise. Would not use it over 800 ISO. I use the new 7d2 a lot for walking around with new 100-400 ll. Great combo in good light. I try to use nothing higher than ISO 200. Its super clean. I have shot it at ISO 1600 an with a good noise reduction software they are pretty good. I shoot mainly birds an when you crop, everything is magnified,so the back ground can b cleaned up but any NR on the bird you lose detail. If you got the money its the !DX.

Agree with LFingar had to send first one back ,would not focus. New one works fine. Got it for the crop factor. Looks great at iso 200 which I try to shoot. Over iso 200 noise comes into play but using noise reduction image will clean up pretty nice.

Its like buying a tripod, people will buy a cheep one an later wish they had got a good one. Save yourself some hassle an get the one that goes with the camera. For the canon, the 1.4 TC lll , is the best.

Use the 7d with the 1.4 TC that will get you the reach around 450 mm. Very little loss of IQ with the 1.4. The 2x TC works well also for large animals but will lose some IQ if trying to get detail on birds more than 20 yds out. Just have good light when using the 2x an stop down to f10 or 11. The 70-200 2.8 ll is a great lens for working with TCs. I have sold
a number of images using that combo.

You will love the lens got mine early in the pre order. really sharp lens. Takes a 1.4 tc very well. Just stop down to about f 10 for best IQ. You can adjust the zoom for tight or loose. Glad I waited all the years for the upgrade. It is very light on a 5 d3.
