That gets worse as you get older... I'm afflicted too!
:( :( :(

BUT, sometimes there are benefits. Like watching a movie for the second time and it is all new.

The memory isn't the only thing to go - my ability to hold my camera still has also been affected!

All of Nikon's FX cameras have a focus motor in the camera body as do several of the higher end DX cameras. It's only the lower end base model Nikon DSLR'S that require an in lens motor in order to have auto focus.. Another benefit of the higher grade bodies is that they can use older manual focus lenses & still get metering via the cameras meter... Base & mid grade Nikon DSLR's won't meter with older manual focus lenses...

Well that places me back to the beginning of my statement - "I don't know a lot about lenses" Always striving to learn more. Thank you.

According to his site, Ken Rockwell seems to feel that certain older AF NIKON lenses are still a really a great choice today.

Anybody here using older NIKON AF lenses on a FULL FRAME, and if so, which one(s) and what do you think?
Thanks,
Inga

I don't know a lot about lenses - but I do know my Nikon D5300 needs the motor IN THE LENS to work on my camera - designated by AF-S. No S means no motor in the lens.

So . . . any older lens you put on a newer body you will have to adjust yourself. No motor in the lens means your hand is the "focuser."

How cool - if it weren't located so far away, that would be an awesome place to live!

Winter brings the Mt. Goats down to lower elevations (still pretty high). Their balance while nonchalantly negotiating the cliffs is impressive.

Wow - impressive! With any luck, I'll find mountain goats and other similar wildlife on my trip to 3 national parks this summer.

Took a short walk (1/8th of a mile) on a winters day to work. Not a lot of snow this storm but it stuck to the trees

Love how the red barn pops against the snow. Good job!

Love the shots - I've been searching for the numerous Red Tailed Hawks we have on the Denver Front Range - I see them all the time when my camera is at home . . . I know, I have to start carrying it with me in the car ALL the time.

Just beautiful! Since we live outside of the city, I always think I should be able to see more stars, but alas . . . When I'm on vacation.

I like the photo - really demonstrates how cold it is - you can almost feel the wind blowing the snow in your face.

I am a retired school teacher - grew up in the BEAUTIFUL San Juan Islands in Puget Sound, Washington State. Taught school in Oregon, and now transplanted to Denver, Colorado so I could take TONS of pictures of my grandsons, and the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

Hello All,

Here are a few images from my first softball shoot at a local high school. They were all shot with a Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G DX VR.

I welcome all comments.

In the second photo of the batter - I know it's a very difficult angle to get the face of the batter - but could you have opened up the aperture to shrink the depth of field so the chain-link fence in the background was blurred? It's terribly distracting. I'm only a beginner with the DSLR, but I think I would try that in future shots with a distraction like that in the background.
