It is likely that most UHHers have seen a $2 bill? You may well have wondered if it's funny money. It's not. The $2 bill has been printed by the U.S. Treasury almost continuously since the Civil War, and there are still 1.4 billion of them in circulation. The last series of $2 bills was printed in 2017.

• The $10,000 bill was the largest denomination ever to be printed for public circulation in the U.S.
• A collector cannot legally hold a $100,000 bill. What to govt. would do if you have one is unknown.
• Today, a $500 or $1,000 bill may be worth more than its face value as a collector's item.
It is likely that most UHHers have seen a $2 bill?... (show quote)

I've seen/held them all except the $100,000. (My dad was a high mucky-muck at a large bank and he took me in the vault with him to show me around. Guessing that probably wouldn't fly today)

Welcome to the forum. Love your state, especially New River and Coopers Rock (all of it actually).😊

Not to be "that way" but the OP is in western Virginia (Roanoke valley, the Star, Lynchburg, Christiansburg etc.) and the New River and Coopers Rock are in West Virginia. In "eastern" VA there's Mabry's Mill and in West Virginia there's Babcock SP Grist Mill. Western Virginia is a nice area (the wife is from there) I'm from the "County Roads" side (I'm actually related to the first permanent resident of the state). That being said, lots o' photo ops in both places.

I also note that they didn't mention having a loose rope to start the lawnmower. My son in law with his new electric mower looked at me like I had 3 heads when I told him about the evolution of mower starting. I swear he didn't believe me over crank starting.

Yep. But I only got 2 cents for a soda bottle.

Ditto, but every once in a while there were these "bigger" (IIRC green) bottles we'd could get a nickel for.

That’s what is called “inclusion” these days. That’s where you don’t exclude people from certain activities or events because of their race, gender, religion and so on. Removing those objects because of their implied ethnicity would be a violation of the “all inclusive” requirements of many businesses or government positions. That means any one demanding those little snow covered guys be removed are being politically incorrect and if those little fellows are at a business or government office, that person is subject to reprimand or dismissal.

I work in a government office and I have to set through those computer “trainings” all the time.

Sometimes I was the “chicken guy” when I wasn’t on the grill. As for being a taster, if we had a real, real good night the one manager would have us cook a bag and make some fries and as soon as we closed we’d chow down before cleaning up. Full disclosure, it only happened once or twice. I’m sure if corporate knew they’d have stroked out.

In the mid 70's I had a second job at a McDonalds that was a test market for fried chicken (bone in type, not the nuggets). The chicken was actually pretty good. Probably cook time, amount of chicken that one could cook and having to have a pressure cooker k**led the idea. I tried to stay clear of the "McPressure" cooker knowing how well the ice cream worked.

I had a lecturer at school that at one time worked for National Geographic and he said that he'd shoot (IIRC correctly) 20 rolls of film on an assignment and they "informed" him to shoot more.

Mike was a really funny guy that could think fast for a "zinger" when the occasion arose. After their spashdown they were greeted by President Nixon and he mentioned that by travelling in space Frank Borman said they could be (technically) younger and Nixon asked if they felt any younger. Mike quipped, "we're all younger than Frank Borman." In the summers he would go out with the neighborhood kids and teach them about the stars and celestial navigation. At times it would morph into survival training mode and he'd tell them which bugs were safe to eat seeing he'd been to survival school.
Sure miss the guy. We've chatted about everything from painting, to roses, to the virtues of driving a VW bug. He was a great writer. If you're interested (and it's pushing it to put on your this years Christmas list) read Carrying the Fire, it's a classic.

When remodeling an old house, leave your square at home. Or at least in the truck. It’s unlikely a century old house will be square to begin with.

Century old? Uh, ours was built in 1968. Plumb and square were optional that year, plus the added bonus of aluminum wiring. But it's a keeper.

It's been ages (and I'm too lazy to even think about looking it up) is that FP4? I wonder how many youngins would even know sheet film what those notches were/are for and how it was processed. Not to mention 2 sheets per holder unless you had one of those snazzy Graphmatic film holders so you could have a "six shooter."

My wife had Homer's brother as a high school teacher in Virginia. (Boy was she amazed when she found out his brother) My father played high school football against Ted Cassidy (Lurch). My claim to fame is being related to Morgan Morgan.
