Using Stellarium and using your time; date; and location, the semi-circle of stars is part of the constellation Sagittarius. Those stars form the top of the cape that the ancients visualized billowing behind him. (I first suspected the constellation Scutum (the shield), but surprisingly the stars don't actually form a semi-circle).

I have been a happy user for about 10 years. My site is heavily customized, but still easy to use.

The stinkhorn mushroom Phallus rubicundus. I had a colony of these in a flower patch that showed up this spring. First time I ever saw this fungi.

Are you using a Mac? I am and Lightroom has, for me, in the Develop Module, gone to disappearing all the side panels. The image is there, but nothing else. I have to either hit "Cmd+H" then "Cmd+Tab" or minimize the page and enlarge it again for the panels to reappear. Trouble is, sometimes panels again disappear the instant any option is clicked on. I hate it. The frequency of this disappearing act increases until Lightroom is closed and relaunched. Then it behaves for an hour or two before beginning again. This began about a month ago and continues today. Is that the problem you're having? On line research suggest the bug will fixed in the next update.... four updates ago... I don't have any suggestions other than rassle with it until Apple/Adobe get it figured out.

I use a Mac and I have been having this problem too. It is irritating but not fatal. I hope they fix it soon because I hate having to quit LR and restart it.

PS -- In a way your post was good news because now I know it is not me or my setup.

After doing a lot of experimentation with my camera / lens combination (Sony 6300 APS-C, Rokinon 2.0 12 mm), I have found that I can achieve the best results with a 20 second maximum exposure to avoid coma (at ISO 1600). That is essentially a "400 Rule".

I sometimes use 15 seconds ("300 Rule") but then I have up increase the ISO to gather enough light which increases the noise.

I have decided that having stars that are slightly oval upon magnification is better than dealing with the noise.

Unique capture. Well done.
And who was the winner?

Haha. Well, I see that the Dragonfly's head is no longer attached to his body and it is in the jaws of the spider, I think the spider was the winner.

I have been to both New Zealand and Australia. (Multiple trips to Australia because my daughter lives there.)

I would recommend New Zealand. You can see virtually all of it in 3-4 weeks, and it has much greater diversity of terrain and climate than Australia. Don't get me wrong, Australia is wonderful but it is too big to see what should be seen in that short of time. Plus, even my Australian relatives will reluctantly admit that New Zealand is a better place to visit for a vacation.

I bought the 6000's precursor, the NEX-6, when it was first released. Loved it. I upgraded to the A6300 when it was released. Love it. It is my only camera that I use. I take mostly travel / landscape photos so the form factor is important to me.

For what it's worth -- I updated my laptop and my desktop (both Macs) yesterday (Oct 18) from LR CC to what they are calling LR Classic. Both updates occurred effortlessly and seamlessly. Easy peasy as my mother used to say.

My experience is that after the first year or so, the Sony batteries last about twice as long as the Wasabi batteries. I ended up throwing out the Wasabis. As they say, "your mileage may vary." Clearly there are some users who have not had the same experience as me.

Go! The country is one of my favorite places in the world. The troubles are in a very limited geography and nowhere near where you are planning to visit. The people are wonderful and the sights are superb!

This is not the place to argue about the political difficulties in Myanmar, so I'll leave that alone except to say that I vehemently disagree with the military "solution" to the problem and that Ang San Suu Kyi is between a rock and a hard place with no authority over the military. Sigh. I love Myanmar and hate to see their image sullied.

The REAL reason most people shoot RAW .....

I am confident you will get a lot of strong opinions here. This RAW / JPG topic often becomes heated.

In my opinion, do whatever works best for you. For me, I use RAW exclusively. Upon getting a camera that could shoot RAW, I tried it and never went back. There is never a reason for me to shoot JPG.

Some people, I think, switch to JPG if they want to quickly upload a photo to social media. That speeds up (or eliminates) post processing requirements. Others shoot JPG because they are not interested in, or not comfortable with the post processing that needs to be done with a RAW image.

I'd say 80% of my shots could've been taken with JPG and would have turned out just fine. It is the other 20% where RAW gives me a wider exposure cushion in tricky lighting situations. Plus, I love post processing so the extra information captured gives me a lot of flexibility.

In the last day? I did not know that. I arrived two days ago. I guess the Manchester bombing had an effect on this policy?
