I have Pentax K-s1 DSLR and I was thinking to add Sony Alpha 6000 for portability without giving up on picture quality and capability..
May be Panasonic Lumix mirrorless is a better choice than Sony Alpha 6000 ?

I've had half a dozen Sony mirrorless cameras, and this is the one I'm keeping. I had a couple of NEX and three RX100. I prefer the A6000 for its lower price and good performance. It's is an extremely capable camera, with dozens of potential adjustments. Gary Fong has two detailed videos - one free, and one not free.

Ive had my A6000 for a few of years and it is a great little camera. I used it as a backup to my Canon 6D. If you are interested, I an selling it here on UH because it is now just sitting in my closet. I purchased the 6Dii two months ago and now have the 6D as my backup, so I no longer need the A6000. Here is my ad on UH:
$700 for the following Sony Kit and I'll pay shipping to lower 48 only.
Kit includes:
Sony A6000 Mirrorless Camera (purchased used but like new, only used as backup to Canon 6D and 6D Mark II)
Sony 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 PZ OSS Stabilized Power Zoom (purchased used)
Sony 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS Stabilized with Hood (purchased new from Amazon)
Meike MK-S-AF4 E mount to EF mount converter to use Canon lenses on the Sony (purchased new from Amazon)
If you are interested, PM me.
Thanks,
Mike.
Itâs a camera I bought for my daughter to use as well as my wife. I wanted to buy them a Nikon D5300. Took my wife to Best Buy. She wanted a point and shoot told her thatâs what her iPhone is. She said after holding the D5300 I donât want a bony D500 like yours. So I put the Sony A6300 in her hand and turned it on. She liked it. Bought the a6000 because of price, and did nirvana care about 4k Video. Iâm a Sony broadcast dealer and was able to purchase the Sony at a nice discount through their employee discount program. The camera worked well. My son is now having me order the Sony a6500 for him. He wants it for Video. He is paying. LOL
I use it like I will today to take pictures of job sites we are installing professional video and sound systems. I Shoot in Manuel and my wife and daughter leave it on full automatic. They are happy and I am. I still prefer my D500 over this camera but itâs a good camera and best in price in my humble opinion.
Here is a picture of my daughter took while we were in Africa.

I have the a6300, my only camera (right now anyway), which has a few more bells and whistles, and a little more weight, but the same 24MP sensor. Here are a few shots I took on a recent trip through Northern Spain, to give you an idea (scroll down):
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-490895-1.html The "Senoritas" were heavily cropped - was taking a wide angle picture of a square, but as I magnified (quite a bit), they were the most interesting subject. Not quite as sharp as if I had zoomed in, but sometimes you go with the moment (and a bit of PP)...

Right. My D750 is my camera of choice, unless I need something small.
Here's a link to a shot that I took this morning (I included the download, so you could look at the sharpness) - I'm taking shots of dogs here for a collection that I'll post when I have a good set, but since you asked, decided to post this one now (SEL 16-70 at 70mm, f/5, 1/125, ISO 200). Note: Andorra is very dog friendly: you can take your dog pretty much anywhere, including most restaurants, so long as they behave.

99% of all camera's are better than 98% of all photographers. It has never been the camera my friend, if you HAVE IT, it doesn't matter.
took my a600 to turkey a couple of years ago and it did an outstanding job. was so easy to carry. left my canon 5d mark 3 at home.
I bought the 6000's precursor, the NEX-6, when it was first released. Loved it. I upgraded to the A6300 when it was released. Love it. It is my only camera that I use. I take mostly travel / landscape photos so the form factor is important to me.
It is my only camera. Our club of 30 or so people and over the last 3 years 9 of them have purchased this camera. Some have better lenses than I do but all of us enjoy their capable camera. My only complaint is shooting in sport mode it still can't get tack sharp images of my labradoodles coming straight into the lens. Otherwise it is a mighty fine camera that works well with my adaptor and Takamar lenses from my old film Pentax camera.
What are some of the lenses you would recommend?

I bought a a6000 kit from Costco a couple years ago. It came with 18-55mm and 55-210mm. Soon after, I found a used 10-18mm/4 lens and the combination became my goto travel camera. I got tired of swapping out the kit lens depending on the shot and so, earlier year, I bought a 18-105/f4. Now, travel is made easy with the very capable a6000 long with the 10-18/f4 and 18-105/f4. I've been reasonably happy with almost all the images with my only bitches being the menu structure (all my other cameras are Canons) and the poor battery life. Even with wifi in the airplane mode, I never get through a day without swapping out the battery. I always carry two spares. Lastly, I use an external charger rather than in camera. Lastly, since the 18-105 is on the body most of the time, I've pretty much lost the weight battle I set out to remedy. The 18-105 is not a light lens by any means.
