I don't understand the rant about being closed on Saturday, but applaud them for their respect of their faith. If you are ordering online your order is not going anywhere until Monday anyway. If you are in New York their store is no different than one third of the other stores. Bottom line; browse the web site on Saturday, order on Sunday, they pack it on Sunday and UPS picks it up on Monday. In central Illinois I always get it on Weds.

From my experience, B&H stands for BEST and HONEST. My orders are always packed well and extremely fast shipping. I really appreciate their web site, easy to navigate, search options work great, product descriptions are accurate and I love the wish list.

I can't wait to get to New York and visit their showroom. Thank you B&H for the great service.

First, I am a Canon guy. Second, I am feeling bad that I even offered my 7D for sale because it is a wonderful camera. I just bought the new 5DMkIII and thought the sale of the 7D would go towards the new EF 24-70mm L MkII lens I want to buy.

Best advice I can give is go to a retail outlet and try them both. I bet you will decide on the 7D.

Regards

I have a like new, excellent condition and no scratches on glass or body Canon EF-S 10-22mm. Includes all original packaging plus USA warranty, 77mm Hoya UV filter, canon lens hood, lowpro padded case. I just don't use it enough to justify keeping it. It is a great lens. I would take about 25% off current new retail. Let me know, thank you

I am curreently enrolled at New York Institute of Photography and just yesterday took the first exam for the first of 6 sessions. I still need to complete and submit the photo assignments for this session and then start session number two.
Looks like the entire course will take about 18 months at a modest pace.
I am very happy with the methods used and the materials. The recap DVD of sesson one is very dated but did peak my interest with regard to the advancements of the modern DSLR.
Not sure of your goals, but for me I was amazed to have already learned the difference between a "snapshooter" and a "photographer." And, I thought I was a pretty fair photographer.
Good luck and I think you will find the structure of this course better than reading random books. The books will mean a lot more after this program provides the foundation of your basic skills.
I took the attitude that the tuition was about the same as an average lens!

Best trick I learned was last year during my granddaughters dance recitle: last year I went to the full dress rehearsal the night before the actual performance. I was free to move around, learned a lot about needed exposures, did not anoy anyone (I hope) but still could not use flash.

Keep in mind "camera shake" and keep your shutter speed equal to (including crop sensor formula) to the focal length of your lens. Use a lens with IS if at all possible as this will let you slow your shutter speed down by 2 to 4 stops,

Last year I used the Canon 135 f2 without IS, not so good. Aw, but this year I will use my new Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS MkII. Actually I am looking forward to going to a "dance recitle." I know I am sick!!

Get the 7D now and bundle it with the EF-s17-55mm F2.8 IS lens (should save a few hundred $$'s). You will think your heart stopped and you are now in heaven. Next year add the EF 70-200mm F2.8 IS mkII and not only will you feel like heaven, you will feel like God!! The f2.8 lenses will give you great low light opportunites, the focus is fast and the image quality will make you smile and proud to show off your captures. I use this set up 95% of the time. Let me know if you pull the trigger and good luck.

Absolutely try lensrentals.com out of TN. Great prices, huge selection, fantastic service and great people to do business with. I have one of their lenes (ef-s 17-55mm f2,8) on my camera at this very minute.

For your camera I would recommend without any reservation the Canon ef-s 17-55mm f2.8. Great at the wide side, ideal walk around lens, great in low light (f2.8 through entire focal length), tack sharp and has Image Stablization. Perfect lens, but WARNING, you will want to buy one after you rent it.

The canon ef-s 10-22mm would be my second choice, but it is a distant second. Not as flexible. The 17-55 can stay on your camera for the entire trip unless you need some long range tele shots.

Good luck and enjoy your trip.
