Porn is in the eye of the beholder. To some, boobs are ok but genitals not. Others, genitals ok unless they are deliberately being spread or the cropping is only genitals. Others...as long as there is no penetration or capture of the happy ending it is fine.

Art has often to be on the eyes of the beholder...and if Timmer’s art includes lady bits it’s not mine to judge.

My advice is to get over it...some of his shots are fine, others a little less fine, and others I wonder what the hell he was thinking. But that’s art...the ones I don’t like I just ignore.

However...what is BS...I will skip repeating the word...is the incessant Timmer-hate. If you don’t like it...just don’t look...unless you own the forum or he is in violation of the ToS...you don’t have any more right to badmouth it than the guy in the other thread about No Trespassing signs.

Take a deep, calming breath, wash your hands, and get over it already is my suggestion.

Exactly my thoughts.
If you don't like Timmers' work, then don't look. You can see from the post it is from him. Quit bitching and just don't view anymore. I'm sure Timmers won't mind.

Once again I see misinformation about 'filling the frame'.

For some 'filling the frame' means user the sensor to its fullest in order to use every pixel.

It does not work that way. Regardless of what your end purpose it every capture needs some tweaking (sorry SOCC guys and gals). Tweaking maybe minor (rotating slightly) if you just post on the WEB. This rotation creates a crop so you lose some of your 'precious' pixels.

More often than not you need to crop to a set size that will force cropping. If you have 'filled the sensor' that will to cropping part of your image ans basically destroy it.

Whenever you shoot anything think of the end result you want, not filling your damned sensor. This means your composition must respect the end result and take into account the cropping (and rotating) you will need.

We had a case recently where printing involved such cropping and destroyed the capture. The op has likely learned something.

PP solution.... Post processing is not about correcting such mistake (or any other for that matter) PP is made to enhance a capture, nothing else unless you enter 'interpretative photography processing' that includes compositing and the like.

I'm with you Ron.

I tend to shoot really tight. So tight I can't print a true 8 x 10 shot. So I took enough time and experimented to find exactly how I should frame the shot in order to be able to crop in post to a 8 x 10 print. It turns out to be a very simple solution. Since I am shooting in 3 x 2 format, and my screen is exactly 3 inches wide, I just mentally take off 1/12 of each side which is 0.25". The height from top to bottom corresponds to the 8" side of my print. As long as I stay within that border I can crop to 8" x 10".
I may even put a very thin strip of red tape over the screen to make sure I stay within that boundary.

Thanks for the post.

I gave up on this 6 months ago on my D500.
Has anyone use this recently? Please update. Thanks

Snapbridge works great for me on my Z6. Very fast response time. Never tried on the D500.
I did download the latest Snapbridge about a week ago.

I recently purchased a Nikon Z7 mirrorless with FTZ adapter and attempted to mount a Tamron 150-600mm G2 which works perfectly with my D500. Once mounted to the Z7 adapter, and power turned on, I immediately get an error on the camera. When I bought the Z7 the dealer told me this lens was a F mount and full frame which would work fine on the Z7. After searching the Tamron website it looks like there may be a firmware update but I can't tell if there was a specific update for this lens. I would appreciate any thoughts/ideas.

Best regards!

It won't work. There are not enough electrical contacts on the Tamron lens for it to work. I have two lenses, a Tamron and a Tokina. Neither of them will work. But my Nikon 200-500mm works fine.

I think I should be able to send pictures from my Nikon Z50 to my iPad. I have the Nikon app but so far, have had no luck. Is there a trick, or am I missing something?

Have you connected the two together through WIFI. I have used Snapbridge on my Android smartphone successfully with a Z6. When you turn on WIFI on the camera, it should tell you the SSID to connect to.

Hope that helps.

UH Team.

Looking at upgrading from D500 to D850 when I discovered the Z7. The cameras share a lot of things in common but the 7 is much lighter; mirrorless; faster FPS; and Expeed 6 processor. On the down side the 7 only has one card slot vs 2 on 850. I wanted to get some feedback from those who use the 7 in the real world and what they feel are pros and cons. I like the 7 but the 850 is a beast and likely the best DSLR on the market.

Thanks for your help!

I have the D500, D850, and the Z6. Was thinking about getting the Z7, but honestly, the only real advantage I see is the increase number of pixels. The ISO response at higher ISOs is even better on the Z6. If you need the higher number of megapixels, go for the Z7. If not, go for the Z6. I have fallen in love with mirrorless cameras. The video is fabulous. One thing I like is that you can seamlessly take a still picture while in video mode. And the response time is instantaneous. I was doing some experimentation while watching a basketball game on TV the other night. A player took a shot at the basket while i was videoing. I pushed the shutter button just as the ball was in the net! How cool is that! You can snap away and the video is not interrupted at all.

Oh, I haven't used the D850 nor the D500 since I got the Z6.

Looking for a case for my nikon 200 to 500 lens.Want something that will protect it more than the cloth case that came with the lens.Anybody use a lowepro?

Yes, I use the LowePro 13x32 cm case Black/Noir. It is well padded. I think it is about the best case for this lens. Has a hand strap and a shoulder strap. To me, it was well worth the money (whatever I paid for it).

I would guess that many of you know this already, but just in case! The way I have been successful in getting some of my images published in calendars, magazines and post cards is buying the newest version of Photographer's Market and identifying areas where my photographs fit with their guidelines. It comes out every September and it's well worth looking into for some of the awesome posts I have seen on the HOG.

Seems like the last publication was the 2018 edition, copyrighted Sept 2017.

If the camera uses two cards - should the cards' read/write speeds match or does it not make a difference?
Camera is Nikon D850 & D810

They don't have to match. The fastest card should be doing video and/or RAW. The slower card can do the JPEG files just fine.

I normally do JPEG to a slower card without any problem. If you are doing sports where you use Continuous High speed, you need a fast card. Otherwise no problem.

Learning how to use fill flash outdoors can really help get better images.
A lot of people are afraid of using flash. It’s not that hard these days and makes a big difference if done correctly.
The Nikons I use work really well with TTL flash, especially if that flash is also a Nikon product.
Do you have a speedlight?
When your subject is within the range of the flash, you can set the FEC (Flash Exposure Compensation) to between -2 & -3 and get really nice shadow fill without it looking overdone.

Here is a good, short explanation: https://neilvn.com/tangents/on-camera-ttl-fill-flash/

Very good advice. I would add, carry extra batteries and try to get the romantic shots. That's the ones they will cherish. Re-pose the kiss at the end of the ceremony with the official performing ceremony.

Make a list of the shots the bride and groom want taken and try to get them.

Good luck!

I have a Nikon D7100 and am seeking advice about the best macro lens and a lens extender for my camera. Years ago, I bought a camera "kit" which included a 18-55 mm zoom lens and also a 55-300 zoom lens which came with the camera. Both are VR lenses with automatic and manual focusing.

As a general purpose MACRO lens, I would recommend the Tokina 100mm f/2.8 D. It is an excellent macro and can also be used as a portrait lens. It is a full-frame lens, but it can be used on crop sensor cameras. I bought mine directly from TokinaUSA.

The extension tube set I have used is the MCO plus MCO-N-AF1-B. It has the electronic feed through contacts so AF and all that other stuff work. About $35.00 for the extension tube set (12mm, 20mm, and 36mm). Great quality and great value in my opinion.
