I just paid a visit to my local camera store and they are cutting back hours. On Sat. they are only going to let one person in at a time.

"Non-essential" already closed here; next, it's suposed to be "non life sustaining", or similar language.
We also have markets with senior only shopping hour. I guess they assume the old folks are up and about at (or before) the crack of dawn anyway.
A regional grocery chain just started « senior hours » yesterday, and the place was packed! Hardly the safe distancing that we would have desired. And, many of these seniors were working the self-checkout machines for the first time, with very mixed success. At least we were not in the middle of younger infected folks who might not be showing symptoms.

Good for them. Social distancing. However, if everyone is in close contact outside the store waiting to get in, then it's sort of self defeating.
That's nothing. Here the governor just ordered all bars and restaurants closed. How the hell are we supposed to deal with the stress of possibly catching a deadly disease with the bars closed?
To address your comment, there are a lot of people who would conclude that photography isn't essential to daily life. I'd take umbrage at that opinion.

As one of our local grocery stores said, they spend the night thoroughly cleaning the store, then open it to seniors, only, from 7 to 9am, because those over 60 are in the “high risk” category. But I’m up by 6am anyway.

My problem is that I just got a new camera and can't take it to a bar and snap pics of drunks.
I'm quite sure the camera stores in my area are already all closed down. Perhaps they can still be reached on the phone, I don't know.

I call the store before I go there to insure they are open for business in some fashion and to check inventories of items I wish to buy to ensure they are in stock . Or I buy online and have it delivered. That's where we are currently in my neck of the woods. My pantry & freezer are stocked and I am blessed.
Good luck to everyone of you and please stay safe and look out for your elderly neighbors too. They need our help more than ever until things get back to normal if that ever happens????
Below is a Social Distancing device invented by an Italian man (I wonder if he's a DaVinci?)...
Problem is, it only keeps you about 3 feet from people who aren't wearing a similar device, rather than the recommended 6 feet.
And, it make shopping rather difficult. Try pushing a shopping cart or getting something off a shelf! Looks like he has one of those grabber devices to help (color matched to his distance device, no less!). Good luck picking up a jar of peanut butter or gallon of milk with that! Maybe instead of a cart he just piles stuff on the disk. I assume he walked to the store, rather than driving or riding a bicycle.
P.S. All photo stores... and almost everything else... are closed here in N. Calif. (Bay Area). The remaining "essential" businesses (incl. grocery stores) are reducing their hours. Some businesses that are allowed to remain open are closing anyway. Of a fifteen or so local restaurants, I noticed yesterday that only 3 or 4 were open (to go orders only). We were given no warning about this... It was announced and went into effect on Monday. We had no opportunity to go get things before stores were closed (for a min. of 3 weeks). Had they given us 24 or 48 hours notice over the weekend, I'd have tried to stock up on a few things (tho not to the extreme, the way some are).

Of course they're up at the crack of dawn... or even earlier. Gotta pee!

For some, the stores could open 2-3 times a night. LOL.

effects is a noun and you are using it as a verb. The verb is affects.
