PSCC 2018 worked great for me, but since the 2019 upgrade came along, I've noticed a couple of anomalies that are bothersome.

Select and Mask - I had been amazed at how well 2018 performed this 'trick'. It just worked and worked very well. However, in 2019, I have considerable issues with getting a good selection, especially where there are (for example) many tree branches or lots of fly-away hair. Has anyone else experienced this?

Duplicating the Layer - When I open an image in 2019, whether from 'Edit-In' in LR, or just opening an image, habit dictates that I press CTRL-J for the duplicate layer. This doesn't work!! I have to close the image and re-open it. Once I do, CTRL-J works as it should. What's up with that?

I've reset the tools, but that didn't help. Any insight into these issues will be most appreciated.

Hi, Is it normal for your computer when opening a large jpeg file @ 14.4 meg. to take a few seconds for the pic to " Clear up "? At first the pic looks grainy or out of focus but then after a few seconds clears up. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this. My computer is a Lenovo desktop, I7 8th gen processor, 32 Gig of ram, 512 gig SSD drive and a 1 Terabyte drive. I also have 2 - 4 gig. usb3.0 backup drives on it. It doesn't really matter which drive I'm working off of does the same thing. I shooting with a Canon 5Dm4 with various lens on it. I think that covers everything, if I left anything out just ask.

I have been impressed with the Sigma Art lenses. However, it appears one has to buy a separate USB dock in order to "calibrate the lens to your computer!" Looking at the offerings on Amazon and elsewhere along with the various questions and answers, I still can't figure out what it does and if it is necessary. How is the Sigma Art lens different from a Nikon, Tamron or other lens for which I don't have a USB dock? I do understand that there is a capability to calibrate a given lens with a special chart to somehow correct a difference in focusing of a standard or correct lens to the one you might have but unless Sigma lenses require a higher percentage of "corrections" to operate correctly, I'm not sure what is actually going on. My son uses his Sigma Art lenses without a USB dock and they seem to work quite well. I would appreciate a reasoned explanation. Thank you in advance.

I need advice. I have been taking photographs of the basketball games at my local college. After a couple of years doing this, I have gotten results that, although they may not be up to pro level, nonetheless satisfy me.

I would like to share my better images with the players. I need a program where they can not only look at the pictures, but also might be able to download them and print them on their own.

What is the best and simplest to use program I can get for this job?

Additionally, I have no interest in selling the images. I am happy to give them away to the players and coaches. Are there any legal issues I should worry about?

While the popular subject matter of winged women does not interest me much, there are enough other kinds of work that do appeal, and the skills apply to anything. The course remains available to an enrollee forever, which is good for me since I need lots of repetition for anything to stick. PM me if you have any particular questions.

I too have had problems with 2019. the most notable being that I have to sign in following a reboot every time I open either PS or LR. I agree with you that Select and mask is not working as it should but have no problems with Control + J.

Adobe technicians, having failed to resolve the problems, reinstalled PS CC 2018 which does not have the sign in hassle. They also wanted to reinstall LR CC to an older version and seemed bemused when I told them that my 2019 catalogue would not open in the older version.

I got round most of the problems by opening PS CC 2018 (no sign in), then Lightroom Classic 2019 (no sign in), closing CC 2018 and then opening 2019 (no sign in).

If I want to achieve a delicate selection I now use CC 2018.

Not a good solution Adobe, but they have said if I change from Win 7 to Win 10, the problems will go away. Maybe they will, but I will not be able to use some (very expensive) software which will not run on Win 10. If I can find a good replacement for the Digital Asset Management in LR, I will probably dump Adobe.
