Got some hohum shots out of a morning walk yesterday and decided to get a little artsy. I used a lot of textures and effects from Topaz after general adjustments in LR. Comments welcome.

I saw two very engaging texture works in Gallery yesterday and now this - all make me itch to return to my own playroom! Strictly personal preference, I find the texture of #1 too drab for the subject. Does Topaz have ability to change the color and brightness/saturation of the texture? Or can you do that back in LR after applying? I use layers in PS Elements.

The second of your duck is my favorite for the wake breaking the line of reed reflections. A charming subject and very cool scene!

I have images similar to these (originals) and wondered what I'd ever do with them. Thanks for the inspiration!! I like what you've done a lot.

Hi Linda - thanks for the look and feedback. Yes, there are lots of ways you can change color and texture of anything, including the textures. I chose this particular combination after much tinkering, and deliberately went with a more muted, subdued look. Not sure why - it just appealed to me, to the point of making it the screensaver on my tablet! Again, appreciate the thoughtful reply!

Thanks Bruce! It was a perfectly tranquil morning, and i got to meet and talk with a great pro photographer in the doing. Working on these were fun!! Go for it!

Really like what you did to the photos. For me, the bottom one is a winner and reminds me of Asian illustrations. I like what you did with the top photo, except for the vignette. Beautiful work!

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. And this has never been truer with these three pictures. The Topaz versions are pretty crummy unless you think you would rather be a nineteenth century painter. The first one is ok. Framing the grass and tree differently might have helped but otherwise I like it a bit.

The birds are another thing. I cannot get interesting shots of ducks just swimming around. I do get pretty pictures of pretty ducks swimming around. When I take pictures like this, I put them into the reject folder and go back out hoping to get something interesting and not just beautiful.

I wish people would stop using Topaz and other such programs thinking they can make great art when all they are doing is adding shock or schlock.

Creative ideas. I love to play with Topaz also. They are giving a 2nd day of a 2 day webinar today Tue, Jan 15, 2019 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM PST. Joe Reardon is the presenter. Your muted look for your landscape is very interesting. I like your idea. Bev

Thanks Edie! I agree about the Asian illustration; that's kind of what drove that one. I appreciate your comments!
