When you get info about an individual picture that is giving you trouble what are the sharing permissions? This can be found by cmd i on the photo
Possible solution is in the finder click on one of the pictures you are having problems with. do a "cmd i" to get info on that picture scroll down to the bottom to sharing & permissions. Make sure it is stating Read & Write privilege for name you log in on. If it does not click the little lock at bottom type in admin password then change privilege. See if you can edit file. If it works then click on the folder that is holding all the images cmd i change privilege and you are set
Since you have a Mac you might want to use Aperture its version of lightroom. Both lightroom and aperture are very good at cataloging, the bonus is both also can post process your images so you would not have to use iphoto and only need to go into photoshop elements for heavy lifting.
I would go with an Imac looking at using lightroom or aperture. when needed get an external hd to expand storage. when a speed boost is needed upgrade to more ram unless you max it when you bought it. (Ram up dates are vey simple, so I would buy the smallest ram possible and do it myself). When wanting to get into heavier lifting with your images add photoshop elements. Baby brother of photoshop and you can move up to photoshop when need occurs. Price point between PC & Mac are close when you compare quality machines. I find customer service well worth the little extra cost.
I wonder who checks the 6,000 pictures posted to facebook per second
It is definitely neat how close you can get, but the images are very soft. I would prefer a sharper image. Not sure if your set up can achieve that. To test out if possible tripod shooting at a far off image that is not going to move. Just to see if the subject sharpness can be nailed down. Have fun shooting.

Many of us girls have an issue with carrying stuff this way, especially if we are more than a c-cup (like me).
Black rapid has a strap made especially for women, my daughter loves it.
Check out Maine Media http://www.mainemedia.edu/workshops they have a wealth of workshops for all level with top Teachers.
Since you are using a Mac to catalog you could use iphoto for entree level allows cataloging and basic adjustment and printing. It is included on your mac no cost. If you want something more Aperture or Lightroom. Both great cataloging programs and very complete editing as long as you don't want to get into compositing. Aperture is apple version of lightroom so it is mac only, cost 79.00 easy of use equal to iphoto. Lightroom advantage is multi platform. Both have additional plugin for more advanced editing. If there capabilities are still not enough then you can add photoshop / Elements. Advantage of Photoshop it is the de-factor program of choice for most professionals disadvantage cost 640.00 some will suggest to have someone with a student id purchase it for you much cheaper, but you are not allowed to use the education version for profit. Will they catch you probable not, but it is wrong. Just like taking another photographer work and claiming it is yours, just wrong. Elements is the baby brother of photoshop allows a great amount of the same control of photoshop cost 74.00 does have cataloging but know where as strong as lightroom or Aperture. Hope this helps.
Try saving your photoshop image with edits as a Tiff format. Does this show still have an over saturated look

I'm very new to PSE 10.Was trying to rotate an image. I;m used to Iphoto and the change happens immedaitley immediately. In PSE the little clock comes on and it takes a good 5-10 sec. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm using my Mac laptop and recently iphoto is starting to freeze up as well. Computer vs PSE?
It could be ram memory, but it also could be not enough Hard drive space left. You should have at least 20% of your hard drive free to get optimum speed.

My camera is 21 Megapixels and the photo files are huge. If I want to send a friend a couple of shots what is the best way to do so? I tried to send through gmail and it took 10 minutes to load and then never went through.
In the past I have used Snapfish or Shutterfly but many people do not wish to open photos from these companies because they believe that they have to buy something if they sign up.
If you are sending an image just for the friend to see, there is no need to send as 21 megapixel. change the resolution to 72 and the longest side does not have to be longer then 800 pixels. Then any email program will be able to handle your files.
