Another possibility is a sidearm for your tripod. They attach to the legs and extend horizontally from there. I just got a new one that allows me to adjust the height fairly easily. The link is bellow. I attached a ball head to the end and put my rail on that. It is much easier to adjust the height with this than with the old Gitzo one that had to remain perpendicular to the tripod axis.

It looks like an owl pellet but consisting of regurgitated sunflower seed hulls.

Special effects very often fail to rescue a shot that you were not happy with in the first place.

Agreed. My goal was to see how much I could push a poorly exposed image to see what was possible in Light Room. Thanks for commenting.

I applaud you for your effort. But for me I do not care for the results. But that is only my opinion and mine alone.

It was fun to see how far I could push things in Light Room. I have not tried doing any special effects kind of things since I was in high school. It's amazing what we will come up with when we have a lot of extra time on our hands.

Of the 5 images here, I like #2. But rather than leaving it as dark gray, I would create it as pure black birds against a pure white sky.

I liked that idea So I tried it. A bit better but still not great, thanks.

I thought I would try some experimenting with some different effects in black and white with shots I was not fond of originally.

I don't know what your file names look like or what you want them to look like in the end so I can't be super specific. One method is to highlight all the files for the day's shooting in Windows Explorer and click on the rename button. All the files you highlighted will rename so and you can change the name of the first one. All of them will get the new name with the addition of a number in parenthesis added. For example if you changed the file name to sample you would get sample(1) and sample(2) etc. If you are familiar with using the command window the old DOS rename command can be much more flexible.

I upgraded from a 40D to the 7dii last year. I shoot wildlife, landscapes, macro and street scenes. I love the camera for the first three (a bit large for the last, but then the 40D was too). The auto focus system and 10 fps shooting speed is great for birds. I also appreciate the weather sealing although I have not had the opportunity to use it in particularly bad weather. The build quality definitely feels better than the 40D. The menus and control layout will feel very familiar, which is important. I have heard that the dynamic range and noise are not as good as some newer sensors but it is a lot better that the 40D.

In my opinion the composition is greatly improved by the black and white conversion. It turned an good image into an excellent one.

If he was here on the Gulf Coast, that would be called a Sand Flea rake. Used to catch crustaceans for bait that Pompano, Red Drum, and some other delicious fish eat. But he is pretty far out, so I have no idea what he is doing. :)

We call them sand crabs and that makes perfect sense, thanks.

I've never seen this fishing method before. I never did see them catch anything.
