Macro "tripod" question

Hi group,
Currently, I'm shooting YouTube videos and ZOOM classes using a tripod with a macro rail positioned several inches from my fly-tying vise. I sit behind the tripod and reach over the camera to tape or teach fly tying instructions. I can't tell you how many times I accidentally "kick" the tripod out-of-alignment. It's no big deal when shooting for YT but distracting as heck when it happens in a ZOOM classroom. I've been searching for a tripod replacement that I can clamp to the table's edge. If I could find or build this type of clamp, I could mount my macro rail on it and continue my work without disruption. Do any of you have ideas about where to purchase a table-edge clamp or have ideas on how to build one? I spend several hours the other day browsing Harbor Freight looking for ideas but to no avail. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Take care & ...

Another possibility is a sidearm for your tripod. They attach to the legs and extend horizontally from there. I just got a new one that allows me to adjust the height fairly easily. The link is bellow. I attached a ball head to the end and put my rail on that. It is much easier to adjust the height with this than with the old Gitzo one that had to remain perpendicular to the tripod axis.

Have one with a removable window clamp head for car window. Don't recall the name and it is in the car now but B&H is the source. Install a 1x4 board edgewise on the far side of your work surface away from you, clamp the head to the board, attach the camera to the head and point it towards you and your tying rig. Have a quick release unit on mine, you may not need that. Good luck.

I also suggest the Super Clamp already mentioned. Make sure you get the stud needed to attach your ball head.

Another suggestion is to get a Skimmer ground pod and put the balllhead on it. Then place it on the table.

Rather than build a clamping assy. I would consider a rolling dolly with locking wheels that has a large upper platform to abut or run parallel to your tying vice where you can move your camera mount anyway you choose to get the proper depth and angle of view you desire....with or without the rail and not have to worry about gravity and accidental misteps with the feet beneath it. Make its' height equal or less than the bench and vice height to give it more promience when you zoom-in for the close-ups. Just a thought. Good Luck sir.

Follow up: Found it on B&H Vanguard Espod CX 1OS Tabletop Tripod

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1131273-REG/vanguard_espod_cx_1_os_espod_cx_1os_tabletop.html

Window clamp might not take a full 3/4" 1x4, try 1/2" plywood.

How about a table top tripod like the Sirui 3T-35. I use it with a phone clamp for my Zoom sessions. I also find it very useful for travelling and selfies.

If I were in your situation, I would ask my president to recommend some sort of anti-spastic medication (I think there is something available for conniption fits that might do the job) or, as a last resort, I might even ask my doctor. Barring that, I would bolt the rail to the table. Or, bolt it to a board and clamp that to the table with a C-clamp. Of course, I would also bolt the table to the floor, and avoid chewing gum.

Look on B&H site for Mathews products. They have many different mounts. Pro quality...

Another idea: take a look at the PlatyPod line. They come with a little rubber mat that is incredibly effective in preventing the thing from sliding around.

These are from Novoflex, German engineering. Had them since 1991, still work great. Might serve your purpose. It can also be clamped horizontally to a vertical surface.
