So bad that it is incomprehensible! I worked summers at a US Post Office while I went to college. The highest "honor" I received while working there over 3 years, was to be allowed to deliver the registered mail one time. It was considered the most important mail and one speedily delivered letters that were sent by registered mail. So when I decided to mail a substantial check to a travel agent in Canada, I decided to send it registered mail with the USPS. This letter was going from San Francisco to Toronto, Canada. It was mailed on Oct. 12, at 10:15am (it is tracked) and I paid $21 for postage. Where is it now, almost 3 weeks later? In Los Angeles!! Anyone have a guess on when it might arrive at its location in Toronto, Canada?
Bottom line, if you want something to get to its destination, do not use the US Postal Service!

During the Pandemic, the USPS would not deliver for 3 or 4 days at a time. I called our local Post Office to try and find out when the next delivery would be but know one would answer the phone. My neighbor is the Post Master at a different office so I talked to him to see if he could get an answer. He said that he had tried to call and they wouldn't answer his calls either even when he called through the Postal system.

Outstanding as usual.

Watch Ken Burn's latest release on "The American Buffalo." Without getting overly preachy or condemning, it clearly shows how our government knowingly promoted the eradication of the buffalo because they knew it would result in the elimination of Native Americans (after our diseases and massacres failed to do the job).

unfortunately, very true.

Amen! I just love it when "This Old House" shows you how to build a cabinet drawer. At some point they'll usually say something like, "Now I'll just run this through my router/planer/joiner table..." inside a shop as spacious as school gym. Sure; but how do I do it with hand tools in my 8' x 12' shop?

There's an awful lot to be said for those who still know how to use hand tools. I watch a lot of woodworking on You Tube and there are a few who use hand tools almost exclusively and some of it is as beautiful as anything you can do with power tools. The skill is amazing. My Late Uncle had that ability. I wish I had paid more attention in class. Alas, my small shop is full of power tools.

Did anyone ask you to apologize or imply that you should? So far this has been an amazingly polite and thoughtful conversation.

It was a statement Linda not the assumption that an apology was needed. To me it was as it is written in the Bible and no other explanation is needed. That one satisfies me.

Do you believe a higher power created the universe, or do you believe in just the Big Bang?

This is the guy who came up with the Big Bang theory:

No, not the guy to the left with the wild hair – that’s just Albert Einstein. The guy to the right with the weird collar. Yes, Georges Lemaître was not just an astronomer, physicist and mathematician; he was also a priest.

He figured out his theory based on Einstein’s general relativity and figured out that the universe could not be stable and had to expand or contract. Based on the evidence from Edwin Hubble that the universe was expanding, then distances in the universe had to be shorter in the past. And if you extrapolate far enough back into time, you will reach a point where all distances are zero.

Ironically, nobody liked Lemaître’s idea, not even Einstein himself at first. It sounded too much like “let there be light” to them – Lemaître was after all also a priest. Heck, even the name “Big Bang” was invented to mock Lemaître’s theory!

But eventually, evidence won over the sceptics, and now everyone accepts the Big Bang theory no matter if they believe in gods or not. Those who do believe in at least one god sees the Big Bang as how their god created the universe – the answer to the silent “how” following “in the beginning, God created the Heaven and the earth” (or equivalent creation myth in their religion).

The exceptions are a minority of mainly US Evangelical Christians who reject anything which contradicts their literal interpretation of their holy book, and some fringe scientists who reject Einstein’s general relativity.

I guess I'm Part of the fringe then. I'm Evangelical and make no apologies. Interesting information though.

I also had one 396 375hp 4 speed was fast but god did it drink fuel about 5 mpg , could be the way I drove it. LOL

Mine was a little different. 350SS short block. Local drag racer blew it out to 650HP with a Hurst close ratio 4 speed, Radical cam, Edelbrock ram log manifold with 2 Holly 750 4 barrel carbs. Hooker headers and Scheaffer blow proof bell housing and 4:10 gears. I ran it on the street and believe it or not, drove to work. Don't know what the mileage was, but when I ran it you could watch the gas gauge move. Maybe 2 mpg. Those were the days. Fond memories. Very loud. No mufflers just resonators. Most local police had a problem with the noise. LOL

My wife and I spent the most of last week camping in Ludington State Park in Michigan. While the weather was probably not the most enjoyable for camping (misty, raining and cold all week) we did manage to enjoy some beautiful sunsets and nature. This post captures several of these sunsets, etc. (Nikon DSLR 7100, Nikon 70-300 lens) I hope you enjoy and feel free to post comments as I never quit learning. Thank you!!

Excellent series. nicely done.
