In 1895, the Blackfoot Nation were forced by starvation, to sell 800,000 acres of their land to the US government for 1.5 million dollars.

This is now known as Glacier National Park, Montana.

Watch Ken Burn's latest release on "The American Buffalo." Without getting overly preachy or condemning, it clearly shows how our government knowingly promoted the eradication of the buffalo because they knew it would result in the elimination of Native Americans (after our diseases and massacres failed to do the job).
