Those of you with dogs will know what it's like trying to give them a pill. Hide it in a treat? They'll eat the treat and drop the pill on the floor.

One Thanksgiving, we made up a dish of leftovers for our basset hound Barbara. She ate everything, except for two green peas that she left at the bottom of the dish.

We had a dog that wouldn't eat peas.
Amazing how they can spit out ONLY them!

And how they can eat cheese, or anything else without eating the pill.

I don't have that problem with my dog and his medication. He reminds me every morning between 5:30 and six that he wants his medication. He will sit patiently and watch while I put it in a treat, if I am not fast enough getting it for him he will start doing a little dance until its ready.

I had a cat that would do the same thing.

Our dog will not eat pill pockets with a pill in it. Put a pill in a little ball of liverwurst. GONE!

I've been pretty lucky putting the pill in a little ball of cream cheese. Hasn't failed me yet.

Peanut butter works for most dogs, but don't use peanut butter with added xylitol, as it's poisonous to dogs.

I always smeared enough peanut butter on half a slice of bred, stuck the pill to the peanut butter and folded the bread over. Mt dog grabbed the bread and it was gone before she had any idea there was anything in it.

That sounds familiar Murphy gets his pill ( when he needs them) wrapped in a half slice bread with peanut butter)
And he takes his Heart guard straight !!

The lengths we go. I crush them and only then prepare the Mickey, otherwise as is also mentioned here, there is a tendency for her to spit out the pill and dine on the good stuff. Great cartoon.
